One of the most dangerous philosophical contentions even amongst liberty movement activists is the conundrum of government force and prevention during times of imminent pandemic. All of us at one time or another have had this debate. If a legitimate viral threat existed and threatened to infect and kill millions of Americans, is it then acceptable for the government to step in, remove civil liberties, enforce quarantines, and stop people from spreading the disease? After all, during a viral event, the decisions of each individual can truly have a positive or negative effect on the rest of society, right? One out of control (or “lone wolf”) citizen/terrorist could reignite a biological firestorm, so, should we not turn to government and forgo certain freedoms in order to achieve the greater good for the greater number?
If the government in question was a proven and
honorable institution, then I would say pro-Medical Martial Law
arguments might have a leg to stand on. However, this is not the case.
In my view, medical martial law is absolutely unacceptable under ANY
circumstances, including Ebola, in light of the fact that our current
government will be the predominant cause of viral outbreak. That is to
say, you DO NOT turn to the government for help when the government is
the cause of the problem. One of the most dangerous philosophical contentions even amongst liberty movement activists is the conundrum of government force and prevention during times of imminent pandemic. “Being at first skeptical that Ebola virus could be an aerosol-transmissable disease, we are now persuaded by a review of experimental and epidemiologic data that this might be an important feature of disease transmission, particularly in healthcare settings,” researchers at the University of Illinois/Chicago School of Public Health wrote last month.
On Saturday, President Obama stated that “Ebola is actually a difficult disease to catch. It’s not transmitted through the air like the flu.”
Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), also said that “this is not like flu. It’s not like measles, not like the common cold. It’s not as spreadable, it’s not as infectious as those conditions.”

This coming November 4th, Colorado residents will have the chance to vote on Prop. 105 to label GMOs, and Monsanto isn’t wasting anytime trying to defeat the growing tide of opposition to their non-labeling campaigns.
The NO on 105 committee has raised almost $10 million since Sept. 24, with Pepsi Co. and Kraft Foods also giving more than $1 million each. This group has begun running TV ads against the initiative this week.
In the attempt to discredit those who want to know exactly what’s in their foods, Monsanto is running campaigns saying that GMO labeling will cause a rise in food prices, but in the 64 countries that have required labeling, there hasn’t been a spike at all. This flies in the face of the claims made by Monsanto since the agricultural pricing history of so many places is a far better determinate of future events regarding GMOs than their loose propaganda based on speculation.

While the Fed and Western Central Banks continue to prop up the entire market, investors took advantage of the manipulated low silver price by purchasing a record amount of Silver Eagles in October. Silver Eagle sales were also extremely strong last month as total sales reached 4.1 million in September.
In the beginning of October as the price of silver was clobbered below $17, investors purchased more silver eagles in one week than in any other week throughout the year. This trend continues as sales in October are the strongest ever compared to previous years.
If we look at the chart below, we can see that investors only bought 550,000 Silver Eagles in October 2007. Then in the next few years, purchases of Silver Eagles increased dramatically to 1,425,000 in Oct 2008 and 2,939,000 in Oct 2009. However, since 2010…. October sales were relatively flat–between 3.0 to 3.1 million.
