In a world in which growth is slowing, is it not strange that the Fed (privately owned by the largest banks in the world) would institute a system of rising payments rewarding banks for not taking risk or lending money! This all tends to make believe that manipulation is the order of the day and the explanation is far simpler than most would believe...

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 12:43 "It’s been a tough year. The summer does not look easy. Many of us haven’t done well enough to pack it in and head off to the beach. If that’s the bad news, the silver lining may be that pricing within and between asset classes is throwing up an outsized number of interesting opportunities."

Last year the veil of invincibility seemingly came off the secretive Rothschild banking empire, as Baron David de Rothschild and his company the Rothschild Financial Services Group were indicted by French prosecutors for allegedly defrauding British pensioners in a scheme that saw large sums of money embezzled.
Only two months ago, we reported on the Swiss branch of the Edmond de Rothschild Group announcing that they were the target of a French criminal probe “regarding a business relationship managed by a former employee.”
Now, the Luxembourg unit of Rothschild banking empire is being investigated by the Luxembourg state prosecutors office — alleged to have sent hundreds of millions of dollars to an account at a bank in Luxembourg that originated from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Goldman: The Median Stock Has Never Been More Overvalued
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 12:27 When Goldman warned on Friday that a "big drop" in the market is possible before the S&P hits the firm's year end price target of 2,100, one of the bearish reasons brought up by the firm's chief strategist David Kostin is that stocks are now massively overvalued. In fact, according to Goldman , while the aggregate market is more overvalued than 86% of all recorded instances, the median stocks has never been more overvalued, i.e., is in the 100% valuation percentile, according to some key metrics such as Price-to-Earnings growth and EV/sales."There's A Crisis Coming" US Officials Increasingly Concerned At Venezuelan Meltdown
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 12:00 "You can hear the ice cracking. You know there’s a crisis coming... If you obstruct the democratic way, we do not know what could happen in this country. Venezuela is a bomb that could explode at any moment."Annals of Nuclear Energy, Apr 2016 (emphasis added): The importance of severe accident research has been again seen after [Fukushima]… As the accident analysis showed, it seems that in the Daichi Unit 3 a steam explosion occurred… A steam explosion… is an energetic fuel coolant interaction (FCI) process, which may occur during a severe accident when the hot reactor core melt comes into contact with the coolant water… Steam explosions… potentially jeopardize the primary system and the containment integrity…
Korea Electric Power Corporation, Sep 2013: Steam explosion is a phenomenon that… results in explosive dynamic pressure… In the accidents, reactor fuel and materials melts due to the lack of adequate cooling capability as observed in Fukushima accident… In the actions of mitigating… severe accident progression, cold water supplies to cool the corium by any means. In this process, molten corium contacts water, resulting steam explosions that may provide mechanical and functional damages to the surrounding structures…

This Is Why America Is Bringing "Freedom" To The Middle East
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 11:25 We can't figure out why we are so concerned about the Middle East. Can you? If we are swimming in shale oil and our future is driver-less electric cars, why are we so concerned about the Middle East?I wonder if fox knows how many wars mexico has won?
Mexican President Warns Of War If "Gringo" Trump Wins The White House
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 10:50 "Don't play around with us, we can jump walls, we can swim rivers, we can defend ourselves.... We're coming back to the era of the ugly American. The gringo was hated all around the world, and this guy pretty soon he got the title. He is the ugly American, he is the hated gringo, because he's attacking all of us, he's offending all of us. Imagine, I mean that could take us to a war. Not to a trade war."- Mexican president, Vicente Fox
"What Will Happen When Robots Take Our Jobs"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 10:33 Paying people to do nothing, so that people can pursue personal interests is certainly not the answer. Such actions would encourage people to have more kids for which there are no jobs. That’s clearly an unsustainable model. If technology does not create jobs, then war is a distinct possibility. But over the long haul, technology has always created jobs. Why is it different this time?Anti-Trump Republicans Court Mark Cuban To Run As Third Party Candidate
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/15/2016 - 10:10 "I think the time is right for a technology literate entrepreneur to run for president," he said. "Someone who has had to grind to achieve success and can relate as well to those that follow Bernie as those that think the system is broken and follow Trump. The issue for any such candidate is that the process is broken. It's a circus rather than a learning process for all involved."You Know Those Missing Hillary Emails? Russia Might Leak 20,000 Of Them
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/14/2016 - 23:05 Hillary Clinton sits at the center of a raging firestorm concerning her arrangement of a private email account and server set up in her home - from which top secret information may have been deleted. But despite Bernie Sanders’ apparent annoyance with the “damn emails,” the scandal just exponentially intensified, when Judge Andrew Napolitano revealed on Monday that Russia has possession of around 20,000 of Clinton’s emails - leaving open the possibility her deletions might not have been permanent after all.Trump May Have Just Played The Entire Media Universe For Fools, Again
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/14/2016 - 22:52 By now everyone is aware of the fact that there is little love lost between Donald Trump and Jeff Bezos. A day after Trump blasted Bezos in an interview with Sean Hannity, Washington Post released a tape, allegedly from a 1991 interview, where it alleges Trump was pretending to be a spokesman for himself. All of this is within the scope of today's political games that get played of course, but the question is did the reality tv star just take things to a new level by leaking the tape and creating a brand new news cycle?New KFC Restaurant Is Run Entirely By Robots
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/14/2016 - 22:50 Colonel Sanders is raising a robot army to serve fried chicken at a restaurant near you. KFC’s first automated restaurant, called Original+, went live in Shanghai on April 25th, complete with an artificially intelligent robot manager named “Du Mi” who works at the front counter. How Hedge Funds Invest Heavily In Washington D.C.'s Culture Of Corruption
If you want to get a sense of what’s motivating Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders voters, it’s a desire to take people like Robert Shapiro, remove them from the halls of power, and toss them into a cardboard box on the street. Of course, that won’t be happening any time soon, but that’s what a lot of people want. As we detail below, confirmed recently by Congressman X, Washington is infested by the secretive world of the dark money groups representing mercenary hedge funds in their insatiable quest for more and more money. In many ways, it’s merely a microcosm of America in 2016. A culture in which ethics has become so irrelevant, it isn’t even a nuisance; it simply never factors into the equation.Liquidity Problems? Deutsche Bank Offers 5% Yields If Depositors Lock Up Their Money For Three Months
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/14/2016 - 21:53 We were surprised to find that in a promotional offer by Europe's biggest (and by many accounts most insolvent) bank, Germany's Deutsche Bank is not only not rushing to penalize depositors, on the contrary it is offering its Belgian clients a 5% gross return for new €10,000 - €50,000 deposits if this money is locked up for the next three months. The offer is only valid for the next 40 days, until June 24.US Army Shrinks To Smallest Since 1940 As Chinese Military Recruiting Accelerates
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/14/2016 - 21:25 The Army’s latest headcount shows that nearly 2,600 soldiers departed active service in March without being replaced, an action that plunges manning to its lowest level since before World War II, according to ArmyTimes.com. This is occurring as The People's Liberation Army (incidentally the world's largest military force, with a strength of approximately 2,285,000 personnel, or 0.18% of China's population) has begun aggressively recruiting, and rattling its sabre increasingly loudly over US interference in the South China Sea island dispute and most recently in Hong Kong.

Government is using the environment and the issue of gun control to turn patriots into terrorists in the minds of the unwashed masses. And for some, it is working.
As the government reports a major increase in job growth over the last quarter, its ironic that a percentage of that growth is due to the increase in gun sales that resulted from the administrations push for gun control. At this point, the American people understand that gun control is not about gun safety: it is about control, period. Honestly, the gun control debate can be used to sum up the exact differences between the left and right wing worldviews. Those on the left generally believe we are too stupid to govern our own affairs, and an intellectual elite is needed to dictate how we live our lives. The right, on the other hand, believes in principles like individual liberty and personal responsibility and that people are best off when left to self-govern. What most people fail to understand is that the left has been mastering the manipulation of human behavior for the past century, and most of our reactions, whether we like to admit it or not, are the result of purposefully fed stimulus designed to force us to react in a way that pushes us towards the desired end of total control.

We and many others have made a valiant effort over the years to explain what actually moves the gold market (as examples see e.g. our article “Misconceptions About Gold”, or Robert Blumen’s excellent essay “Misunderstanding Gold Demand”). Sometimes it is a bit frustrating when we realize it has probably all been for naught.

Is gold a commodity, an investment, or money?
The answer is…
Gold is a chameleon. It changes in response to the environment. At times, gold behaves like a commodity. The gold price tracks the ups and downs of commodity indices. At other times, gold is viewed as a safe haven investment. It competes with stocks and bonds for investor attention. And on occasion, gold assumes its role as the most stable long-term form of money the world has ever known.
A real chameleon changes color based on the background on which it rests. When sitting on a dark green leaf, the chameleon appears dark green to hide from predators. When the chameleon hops from the leaf to a tree trunk, it will change from green to brown to maintain its defenses.

Patience Urged as Airport Security Lines … Travelers across the country have endured lengthy security lines, some snaking up and down escalators, or through food courts, and into terminal lobbies. At some airports, lines during peak hours have topped 90 minutes … The biggest help to ease lines is to have more fliers enroll in the PreCheck program. – Chicago Tribune
Homeland Security wants to force more travelers to become “known” to the government via PreCheck programs.
Ultimately, it seems, Homeland Security hopes to be the arbitrator of who flies in the US and who does not. This is how fascism encroaches on public life, not all at once, but a little bit at a time.

If you’ve ever wondered how McDonald’s manages to make its french fries look so “appealingly” consistent in color, the answer is likely to make you never want to eat them again.
It turns out that the reason the fast food giant is able to serve fries that look almost unnaturally perfect has to do with the fact that they use a very unnatural and toxic chemical to achieve the desired result.
Best-selling food author and activist Michael Pollan has revealed the secret behind Mickey D french fries’ uniform unblemished appearance, and it’s not appealing at all.
