Amid accelerating deposit outflows and an hourly flow of conflicting headlines, Deutsche Bank is out with a fresh take on the Greek endgame including an analysis of both the political wrangling that would need to take place in order for parliamentary approval of concessions to creditors and the mechanics of a default to the IMF.

from The Burning Platform:
Now you are watching newspaper and TV shows all preparing the public for the coming cashless society. This is a marketing campaign and this may be indeed what October 1st, 2015 is all about – 2015.75. I doubt that the USA will be able to move to a cashless society as easily as Europe. The dollar is used around the world and cancelling that outstanding money supply would bring tremendous international unrest. Additionally, the USA is not in crisis financially as is the case in Europe.
Europe, on the other hand, has an entirely different problem. The failure to have consolidated the debts of member states meant the reserves of the banks were constituted of a politically-correct mixture of debt. Instead of fixing the problem, politicians who are lawyers always move one step forward with laws. To them the logical solution is to eliminate cash to protect banks from a panic run that would collapse Europe and take Brussels with it.

Consumer Comfort Plunges For Longest Streak In 7 Years
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/28/2015 - 09:57 With business confidence collapsing, Bloomberg's Consumer Comfort index - after dropping to its lowest since December - plunged once again this week to 40.9 (from 42.4). This is the lowest since Novemeber and extends the losing streak to 7 weeks - something we have not seen sionce May 2008. This confirms Gallup's weekly tracking of consumer confidence dropped back to its lowest levels since early December 2014 with 53% of Americans now saying the economy is getting worse. Despite all the exuberance over lower oil prices, Consumer Comfort in The South is crashing. Perhaps even worse - for a consumer-driven economy - is that the "buying-climate"suffered its biggest drop since Dec 2011.Putin Slams US Over FIFA Arrests: "Another Blatant Attempt By The US To Meddle Outside Its Jurisdiction"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/28/2015 - 09:32 Following yesterday's surprise DOJ indictment in which 14 FIFA affiliates were perp-walked out of Zurich's swankiest hotel just days ahead of Sepp Blatter's re-election, one person was quite displeased with this latest US intervention on the international arena: Russian president Vladimir Putin who accused the United States of meddling outside its jurisdiction by arresting officials from FIFA, further hinting that it was part of an attempt to take the 2018 World Cup away from his country. Was probably supposed to be shipped to ISIS from the CIA...
Military "Accidentally" Sends Live Anthrax To 9 States Via FedEx
The US military inadvertently shipped live anthrax samples to labs in nine states and one lab in South Korea. The army says it simply doesn't know what went wrong at the Dugway, Utah site from which the samples originated. Dozens of people are now being treated for possible exposure.Presidents have always exercised emergency powers, but now thanks to dozens of new laws, regulations, court decisions and executive orders, Barack Obama is the most powerful president in all of U.S. history. Of course the U.S. Constitution does not actually give the president any special powers during a time of national emergency, but over time presidents have decided that they should be able to exercise such powers and the courts have generally agreed with them. During World War II and prior to that, these emergency powers were largely uncodified and were primarily used during times of war. But since World War II things have completely changed, and this has particularly been true since 9/11. Over the past decade or so, a whole host of extraordinary powers have specifically been given to the office of the president, and all that it takes to exercise them is a major “national emergency”. So if we do have a full-blown economic collapse, a historic natural disaster, a significant war or a massive pandemic, Barack Obama could use the emergency powers that he has been given to essentially take authority over everything.

Financial Insanity Grips The World
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/28/2015 - 08:52 Rare is the person who is a realist. We collectively live in a world of pretend and extend. Every one of us wants our present civilization to continue, though for countless millions the world has already turned upside down as unemployment has soared and war and terrorism proliferate. The very structure of life in our world is threatened because madmen have undermined the financial system through the creation of debt instead of wealth. We have collectively borrowed against our children’s future until their very future is in doubt.Initial Jobless Claims Rise, Miss Expectations - Gone Nowhere Since The End Of QE3
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/28/2015 - 08:37 With the biggest miss to expectations in 6 weeks, initial jobless claims rose to 282k (against 270k exp). For context this means jobless claims have gone nowhere since the end of QE3. The smoothed average ticked up very modestly but hovers near 15-year lows. Continuing Claims rose 11k to 2.222 million, missing expectations for the first time in 6 weeks.Bull Market Dealt A Significant Blow?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/28/2015 - 08:07 While there were certainly concerning bits of evidence piling up regarding the longer-term fate of U.S. stocks, the most important factors in the immediate-term – such as the ongoing confirmation of new highs by the NYSE Advance-Decline Line – continued to support the bull market. That may be starting to change...Greece Feigned Deal Progress, Launched Rumors To Avert Bank Run
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/28/2015 - 07:46 Fearing an acceleration in deposit outflows from Greek banks, PM Alexis Tsipras suggested on Wednesday that a deal between Athens and creditors was imminent when in fact he had no evidence to support the contention. Greek officials now promise their optimism "is not just words."Join us for a visit with author, survivalist and founder of Survival Blog.com James Wesley Rawles. James and I talk about the impending collapse of the US economy and the treason within our own government which has led directly to the fast tracking of the SECRETIVE TPP, the treaty which will completely gut what’s left of our economy once its fully implemented.
As for the sorry excuse that are our “elected Representatives” James says, “It is very discouraging to see what has happened with our nation with the absolute arrogance of our elected Representatives who have absolutely forgotten WHO they represent and WHO they are ultimately answerable to, WE the people. I guess they need to be reminded of that and unfortunately I don’t think they’ll be fully reminded of that unless or until a few of them become the recipients of tall trees and short ropes.”
As for the fragile state of the US economy and our near future, Rawles concludes, “The US dollar has been repudiated by the majority of our trading partners, most Americans are blissfully unaware of that fact… the American people are going to wake up some morning and say, ‘what happened?’ The stock market is going to be in free fall, the banks will all be closed, it’s going to make Greece seem small in comparison… people need to wake up to these threats.“

I was thinking of riding my Honda Shadow 1100 to Twin Peaks restaurant today to have some wings and enjoy the sports on TV on this gorgeous Memorial Day Weekend. The sun was shining, and the temperature was a perfect 82 degrees. I rode by the mall, with only moderate traffic and saw a couple of other bikers out doing the same thing I was doing; riding with no particular place to go.
I was riding alone and was not with any other bikers, but we always exchange the extended two-fingered peace sign as we pass one another on the roads winding through the countryside and through the cities of America.

In a stunning setback to President Obama’s effort to defer deportation and grant certain citizenship rights to millions of illegal immigrants, a federal appeals court has just upheld an injunction blocking Obama’s executive order on amnesty. The Washington Times reports that the highly anticipated ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit marks the second major legal setback for an administration that was skirting the Congress and charging ahead on its highly controversial program to defer deportation for as many as 5 million illegals.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled in favor of Texas, which had sued to stop the amnesty, on all key points, finding that Mr. Obama’s amnesty likely broke the law governing how big policies are to be written.

The good news – if you can call it that: US containerized ocean export activity in April inched up 2.8% from March. It was the first uptick all year, according to the Cass/INTTRA Ocean Freight Index. But in the prior months, the index had plunged to its worst level in the data series going back to the end of the Financial Crisis.
The index doesn’t include commodities such as petroleum products or wheat that are shipped by specialized carriers. It doesn’t include goods or commodities shipped by rail, truck, or pipeline to Mexico and Canada. And it doesn’t include air freight, which is only a tiny percentage of total freight tonnage. The index is a measure of export activity of manufactured products sent by containership. But in the overall US trade statistics, the rise of commodity exports papers over the collapse in exports of manufactured goods.

If every single person currently taking psychotropic medications or antidepressants were to be pulled off these deadly drugs and given a new, safer regimen instead, society would be much better off. This is the larger inference of a new review published in The BMJ (British Medical Journal), which found that more than half a million people in the West die every year from psych meds, which authors found have “minimal” benefits and a multitude of harmful side effects.
Researchers from the Nordic Cochrane Centre, an independent drug safety analysis group based out of Denmark, looked at the data on antidepressant and dementia drugs and found that, in most cases, they could cease to be administered across the board without inflicting any harm on patients. The demonstrated benefits of these widely administered drugs are lacking, researchers found, and many patients are taking them needlessly.
The paper, entitled “Does long term use of psychiatric drugs cause more harm than good?” looked at a series of randomized trials on antidepressant and dementia drugs and found that, contrary to popular belief, virtually none of these studies took an honest look at the drugs’ “side” effects. Likewise, patients who took placebo pills during clinical trials fared roughly the same as those who took the actual drugs, suggesting that psych meds don’t even work in the first place.

It seems strange that a complete accident of birth has such a massive impact on someone’s life.
We don’t get to control where we’re born. It’s a fluke really. Yet as soon as we come into this world a particular nationality is thrust upon us like a birthmark that stays with us for life.
Our nationality dictates so many things throughout our life.
It might mean that we’re required to serve in the military– to go fight and die in some foreign land at the behest of an insensitive, out of touch politician.
It might mean that we’re required to pay an ever increasing portion of our income to finance government largess that we don’t agree with at all.
It can also substantially restrict the places we can go and travel in this world.
That last one is a major issue, because travel is a huge opportunity.

The Fukushima nuclear plant is at it again. TEPCO Announced on Friday that they’re experiencing numerous leaks throughout the facility. Out of the 1,307 containers within the plant, at least 333 are reportedly “defective.” The first leak was discovered as far back as April 2nd, which prompted an inspection of other structures on the property.
What’s worse is the cause of the leaks. They believe that the radioactive material in the vessels is separating the hydrogen from the water, and the expansion of this gas is increasing the internal pressure of the containers. And obviously, the flammable nature of hydrogen could cause catastrophic problems in the future.
