In a congressional hearing on Wednesday, former Director of National Intelligence and retired Navy admiral Dennis Blair told the panel that the United States should be prepared to use military force to oppose Chinese aggression in the South China Sea.
“I think we need to have some specific lines and then encourage China to compromise on some of its objectives,” Blair, who headed the U.S. Pacific Command while in the Navy, said at the hearing.
The admiral’s recommendation came the day after a United Nations tribunal invalidated China’s claim of territorial rights to nearly all of the waters in the South China Sea. Other nations in the region — including the Philippines, who brought the action against China in 2013 — also claim sovereignty in that zone.

Bernie Sanders was a modern-day Gaddafi, but unfortunately Sanders abandoned an entire generation of youth that pinned their inexperienced and naive hopes on a candidate who was only offered as a candidate in order to provide the illusion that Americans actually have a choice in elections, when in fact, they have none.
Sanders was often criticized because of his promises of things like free college seemed impracticable. However, his plan was doable if he identified where the money was going to come from. And where the money could be redistributed if the power of the economy was taken away from the banks. Sanders did not have the guts to wage that battle.
For as impossible as the Sanders platform seemed to be, there is historical precedent for how it could have worked and the answer on how that could have happened would really surprise you.

The statistics in the chart below are representative of every Democrat controlled urban shithole city in America. Obama and his anti-gun activist minions are peddling a false narrative about guns because they understand most Americans are dumber than a sack of hammers and easily manipulated by propaganda. Obama uses every high profile shooting to blame guns, in order to deflect people from seeing the truth. And the truth is guns are not a problem in white America.
It’s only a problem in the urban ghettos with the toughest gun laws run by Democrat mayors and city councils. Chicago is a perfect example of Obama ignoring the real problem. Fifty years of welfare programs and treating black people like victims has created a dysfunctional system leading to hopelessness, crime, and perpetual poverty. Chicago is 32% white, but they commit only 3.5% of the murders. Over 96% of the murders are committed by non-whites. Essentially, it is young black men murdering other black men. White people are not in the equation and are not part of the problem. It’s a black problem framed as a gun problem by Obama and his lying apparatchiks.

Consumer rights v. broke banks: guess who just lost.
After eight years of chronic crisis mismanagement, moral hazard and perverse incentives have infected just about every part of the financial system. Earlier this week, the U.S. Congress published the findings of a three-year investigation into why the Department of Justice chose not to punish HSBC and its executives for their violations of US anti-money laundering laws and related offenses – because doing so would have had “serious adverse consequences” for the financial system – the “Too Big To Jail” phenomenon, a perfect, all-purpose, real-world Get-Out-of-Jail-Free card [read… Congress: “Too Big to Jail: Inside the Obama Justice Department’s Decision Not to Hold Wall Street Accountable”].
But now there’s “Too Broke to Fine.”
Today over a dozen Spanish banks were given a life-line by the EU’s advocate general, Paolo Mengozzi, that could be worth billions of euros in savings for the banks. For millions of Spanish mortgage holders, it could mean billions of euros in lost compensation.

Messrs Carney and Osborne are turning out to be a dangerous double-act for UK residential property investors.
They have been using monetary and fiscal policies through a combination of directed bank lending, selectively increasing transaction taxes and by implementing other tax policies with a view to suppressing demand for residential property.
If they think they can fine-tune these markets, history suggests they will eventually fail. There are significant challenges facing the UK residential property investors already, without state intervention. Incidentally, the problems discussed herein have little to do with the current difficulties faced by commercial property funds in the UK, which have had to suspend redemptions because of illiquidity, though their structural failure sends us a timely reminder about this inflexible characteristic of property generally.

Sergei Karaganov is the honorary chairman of the influential Council on Foreign and Defence Policy which advises the President of the Russian Federation. Therefore when he speaks, at least someone in the (post)Western media in the form of Germany’s Der Spiegel magazine takes notice.
Although Der Spiegel may exaggerate with what a Reddit translator calls a ‘clickbait headline’ in declaring that Karaganov ‘threatens NATO openly’, the reality as acknowledged by many on both sides is that the ‘tripwire force’ of four battalions the Alliance is deploying to the Baltic states is sufficient to anger Moscow and provide scary footage for the Russian television narrative of (post)Western aggression. ‘Kremlin TV’ can now honestly tell the Russian people that the same American soldiers who invaded Iraq and a few left around who occupied the Russians’ Serbian Orthodox ‘brothers’ in Kosovo are at Mother Russia’s doorstep. Paradoxically, four battalions consisting of barely more than 4,000 men remains far too small a contingent to avoid getting crushed quickly in an actual war with Russia — and U.S. generals and the RAND Corporation admit it.

Is the United States the most wasteful nation on the entire planet? We are all certainly guilty of wasting food. Whether it is that little bit that you don’t want to eat at the end of a meal, or that produce that you forgot about in the back of the refrigerator that went moldy, the truth is that we could all do better at making sure that good food does not get wasted. It can be tempting to think that wasting food is not a big deal because we have so much of it, but an increasing number of people around the world are really hurting these days. In fact, it has been estimated that there are more than a billion hungry people around the globe right now. So as a society we need to figure out how to waste a whole lot less food and how to get it into the mouths of those that really need it.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, close to a third of all food in the United States gets wasted after it gets to the store. This is commonly referred to as “downstream” waste. When you add all of this “downstream” waste up, it comes to a grand total of 133 billion pounds of food each year…

I have asked Editor Dan to post Stockman’s article in total today on JSMineset because here is where we are now and where we are going in the future in a much larger way than anything before.
I have been looking for the reason for the Fed’s Chair visit at the White House recently. What this will do is bury the fiat currency system in terms of buying power. It is already dead as a storehouse of wealth. The carrot on the string to own money, interest rates, are presently history. This is what the present administration and its economic clone democratic candidate are counting on.
This is the substance that the meeting between the Federal Reserve and the White House was all about.
