The U.S. Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged on Wednesday and signaled it still planned to raise rates twice in 2016, though it said slower economic growth would crimp the pace of monetary policy tightening in future years. The central bank’s decision to stick with its 2016 rate path, however, appeared shakier, with six of its 17 policymakers projecting just one increase this year. -Reuters
We remember late last year that the Fed was confident of raising rates four times in a row. Now at some point in 2016 there may be another tiny hike of 25 basis points But perhaps not.
Many in the alternative media knew better than Janet Yellen, who kept suggesting that the US economy was improving.

Despite the abundance of scientific studies documenting the rapid and dangerous decline of pollinator populations, state and federal lawmakers have yet to pass any meaningful protections for bees.
The reason, according to the findings of a new investigation, is that pesticide giants such as Bayer, Monsanto, and Syngenta have deployed an aggressive lobbying campaign to dilute and suppress attempts to regulate their multi-billion dollar industry—with great success.
Published by environmental watchdog Friends of the Earth, the report (pdf) exposes “how the pesticide industry has weakened and delayed pesticide reforms and is shaping new pollinator ‘protection’ plans nationwide that do little to protect bees, but a lot to protect industry profits.”

Commenting on the push by the Obama administration, many Democrats, and the liberal media for more gun control in the wake of the radical Islamic terrorist attack in Orlando, Fla., Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. warned people to not take the bait because the “gun contol” talk is designed to distract attention away from the fact that President Barack Obama is “an abject failure” against terrorism in the United States, and he “cannot keep us safe.”
“Sean, don’t take the cheese,” said Sheriff Clarke on the June 15 edition of Hannity. “Um, we’re taking the cheese. This is a trap. The Democrats know this. They throw the NRA up as a straw man. They throw gun control as a straw man when these terrorist incidents happen.”

The National Academies of Sciences (NAS) met five times behind closed doors this past year to discuss the possibility of reviving Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) experiments exposing humans to harmful air pollutants.
NAS is examining the findings of a 2014 EPA inspector general reporting, which found the agency had exposed human test subjects to ostensibly deadly air pollutants without disclosing the risk of death or the total amounts of pollutants subjects would have to inhale.
But the lack of public participation in the study has Steve Milloy worried EPA could be trying to revive its “potentially illegal” testing regime, which has exposed children, asthmatics and people with heart disease to concentrated doses of pollutants.

Once a nation no longer produce essential goods and services, it becomes vulnerable to collapse.
By now, we all know what’s happening in Venezuela: hyperinflation, empty stores, a regime in denial. The Trajectory of Venezuelan Hyperinflation Looks Frighteningly Familiar… (Zero Hedge)
My contacts in Venezuela tell me that merely posting the black market exchange rate of bolivars to USD can get you arrested. So yes, Venezuela’s regime has gone full Orwell-1984: whatever is true is outlawed.

Police are no longer be required to even give the appearance of an understanding of the laws they’re tasked with enforcing, thanks to a recent court decision surpassing even the veritable green light previously granted in Heien v. North Carolina.
In the Heien case, the Supreme Court ruled a “police officer’s reasonable mistake of law gives rise to reasonable suspicion that justifies a traffic stop under the Fourth Amendment.” A motorist’s broken tail light caused an officer to make a traffic stop — during which evidence of a separate violation of the law was discovered in the vehicle.
But in North Carolina, a broken tail light wasn’t illegal, thus not sufficient cause to justify the stop — nor the arrests stemming from it, lawyers argued, because that would be a violation of unreasonable searches and seizures.

For more than 7 ½ years, the Federal Reserve has been promising to normalize U.S. interest rates. That was the initial promise, back at the end of 2008. Most people in the Western world have forgotten what “normal” means with respect to interest rates, after the past 7 ½ years of monetary insanity.
In general terms, normal interest rates mean rates in the range of 3 – 5%. However, given the extreme levels of indebtedness across the Western world, and the elevated level of “risk” associated with such obvious insolvency, a “normal” interest rate for these regimes would be more in line with a rate of 6 – 7%, if not higher. The financial joke here is that if any of the Western world’s Deadbeat Debtors did raise their interest rate to a rational level of 6 – 7%, that regime would be quickly bankrupted by (at least) a quadrupling of interest payments, on their gargantuan debt.

Since the Orlando nightclub shooting on Sunday, gun sales have rapidly increased throughout the United States.
Adventure Outdoors Owner Jay Wallace told Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney that sales of AR-15s and other firearms have “really kicked up” since Sunday.
AR-15’s may look like military rifles but they are actually semi-automatic guns, which means they can only fire one round with each pull of the trigger. By contrast, military-style guns have the ability to fire multiple rounds with one pull of the trigger. The ‘AR’ in AR-15 actually stands for ArmaLite rifle, named after the company that developed it and does not stand for “assault rifle,” according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
Wallace claimed that he has sold more than 15 AR-15’s per hour and may know the reasons as to why there is such a rise in sales.
