Even The Big Banks Now Admit It: "This Is How The Fed's 'Massive Manipulation' Broke The Market"

"Essentially central banks, by unfairly inflating asset prices have compressed risk like a spring to unfairly tight levels. Unfortunately, the market is aware the price of risk is not correct, but they can’t fight it, and everyone is forced to crowd into the same trade. By manipulating markets they have also reduced investors’ inherent conviction by rendering fundamentals less relevant."

Obamacare Is Sucking Up To 10% Of Americans' Incomes

The latest dilemma facing economists is why "unequivocally good" low oil prices haven't sparked excuberant consumer spending across America. We have discussed the simple (though awkward for the establishment) answer many times - soaring costs for 'shelter' and healthcare have hoovered up every penny saved (and more); and now, a new study proves it- exposing the reality that many Obamacare customers pay more than 10 percent of their incomes toward coverage (and some paying considerably more).

WTI Plunges Back Under $37 (Below Brent); Drags Stocks Into Red For 2015

While everything was awesome last week (apart from the last 10 minutes), it appears lower oil prices this week (WTI just crossed back below Brent's price and under $37 once again) is not "unequivocally good" for US equity markets. Following the bloodbath in China's "B" Shares overnight, traders are hoping this pain will stop once the machines "get back to work" at 930ET...

Global Stocks, U.S. Futures Slide As Oil Resumes Drop, China Stocks Tumble Most In One Month

The last trading week of 2015 begins on a historic precipice for stocks: as reported over the weekend, the U.S. stock market has not been lower for any year ending in a “5? since 1875. That streak is now in jeopardy, because following Thursday's shortened holiday session which ended with an abrupt selloff, the overnight session has seen continued weakness across global assets in everything from Chinese stocks which tumbled the most since November 27, to commodities (WTI  is down 2.5%) to European stocks (Stoxx 600 -0.4%), to US equity futures down 0.4% on what appears to be an overdue dose of Santa Rally buyers' remorse.

The Cashless Society Cometh: European Nations Such As Sweden And Denmark Are ‘Eradicating Cash’

by Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse Blog:

Did you know that 95 percent of all retail sales in Sweden are cashless? And did you know that the government of Denmark has a stated goal of “eradicating cash” by the year 2030? All over the world, we are seeing a relentless march toward a cashless society, and nowhere is this more true than in northern Europe. In Sweden, hundreds of bank branches no longer accept or dispense cash, and thousands of ATM machines have been permanently removed. At this point, bills and coins only account for just 2 percent of the Swedish economy, and many stores no longer take cash at all. The notion of a truly “cashless society” was once considered to be science fiction, but now we are being told that it is “inevitable”, and authorities insist that it will enable them to thwart criminals, terrorists, drug runners, money launderers and tax evaders. But what will we give up in the process?

American media: Do as we say, not as we do

from RT:

Imagine if a leading news organization based in a major country was colluding with government officials to ensure their content satisfied those same apparatchiks? Ponder the reaction in Washington?
It’s almost certain that words like “condemn,” “regrettable” and “affront” would be used. Probably by the State Department.
After all, the State Department was so alarmed about “Russian propaganda” earlier this year that “it appealed to major media companies, including Sony Pictures, for help,” according to The Guardian. Now, envisage John Kerry’s merry band armed with proof of RT journalists taking orders DIRECTLY from Russian Foreign Ministry personnel? It’s fair to assume that the outrage would be audible on the dark side of the moon. Doubtless, the likes of Buzzfeed, the BBC and the New York Times would splash the story with giddy abandon.

Private Company Immunity and Visa Waiver Program: Dingle-berries on the Omnibus (2016): CD112

from Congressional Dish:

Available for less than 3 days before the votes, the 2,009 page “omnibus” government funding bill was signed into law. History will not look kindly upon provisions that give private companies immunity for forwarding data to the government, make policing political contributions illegal, repeal a food labeling law, restrict international travel, and allow environmental damage.

China Joins the Big Debtors Club

by Jeff Nielson, Bullion Bulls:
China’s total debt load is exploding: public, private, and household debt, but mostly public and private. How bad is China’s debt problem becoming? It’s closing in on (supposedly) the Biggest Debtor of them all, in proportionate terms: Japan. But what did not get stressed (nearly enough) in the article below is that China’s debt problem is currently roughly identical to the “debt problems” of three, other, familiar names: Germany, Canada, and the U.S.
There is so much of interest here in making this comparison. First of all; these are the three Western nations which (according to the mainstream propaganda) have the “strongest economies”. So why do these “strong” economies have so much debt?

Japan Newspaper: Mutations in nearly every fir tree by Fukushima plant — Insects with missing legs or crooked — Abnormalities also found in monkeys, fish and frogs

from ENE News:
Asahi Shimbun, Dec 22, 2015 (emphasis added): More than 90 percent of the fir trees in forests close to the site of Japan’s 2011 nuclear disaster are showing signs of abnormality, and plant lice specimens collected in a town more than 30 kilometers from the crippled facilityare missing legs or crooked. But it remains unclear whether the mutations in plants and animals are definitively connected to the disaster at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant. All that scientists in Japan are prepared to say is they are trying to figure out the effects of radioactive cesium caused by the release of huge amounts of radioactive materials from the triple meltdown at the Fukushima plant… Scientists are seeking… signs of mutation in plants and animals in areas close to the stricken nuclear plant… Scientists have reported onmutations and abnormalities among species varying from fir trees and plant lice to Japanese monkeys, carp and frogs.

FUKUSHIMA NIGHTMARE CONTINUES UNABATED: TEPCO confronts new problem of radioactive water at Fukushima plant

by Hiromi Kumagai, The Asahi Shimbun:
Tokyo Electric Power Co. has unexpectedly been forced to deal with an increasingly large amount radioactive water accumulating at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant after seaside walls to block the flow of groundwater were constructed in October.
TEPCO completed the walls on Oct. 26 to block contaminated groundwater from flowing into sea. The utility began pumping up groundwater from five wells dug between the walls and the plant’s reactor buildings. The plan called for releasing the less contaminated water into the sea after a purification process, but TEPCO discovered that the water had larger amounts of radiation than it had expected.

IT IS NOW A CRIME TO ‘MISGENDER’ A TRANSSEXUAL OR TRANSGENDER PERSON

Geoffrey Grider, Now The End Begins:
DID YOU CALL A TRANSGENDER OR TRANSSEXUAL PERSON “HE” OR “SHE” WHEN THEY PREFERRED TO BE CALLED “ZHE?” ACCORDING TO A NEWLY UPDATED ANTI-DISCRIMINATION LAW IN NEW YORK CITY, YOU COULD BE FINED AN EYE-WATERING $250,000
Incidents that are deemed “wilful and malicious” will see property owners face up to $250,000 in fines, while standard violations of the law will result in a $125,000 fine. For small business owners, these sums are crippling.

Gun Grab Alert! Assault Weapons Ban + Illinois Bill 2nd Amendment Not an Individual Right

from Spiro:

What slipped through the cracks while our attention was focused on the introduction of the U.S. congressional bill was another, on a state level in Illinois, that was filed with the Illinois House clerk on November 6, 2015, sponsored by three Democratic State Represenatives, Emanuel Welch, Rep. Pamela Reaves-Harris and Jaime Andrade, and which directly challenges the Supreme Court ruling in DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA et al. v. HELLER, which held “that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to possess firearms and that the city’s total ban on handguns, as well as its requirement that firearms in the home be kept nonfunctional even when necessary for self-defense, violated that right.”
