In a leaked transcript, IMF staffers are caught on tape suggesting that a threat of an imminent financial catastrophe was needed to force other players into accepting its measures such as cutting Greek pensions and working conditions, or as Bloomberg puts it, "considering a plan to cause a credit event in Greece and destabilize Europe."

Canada Goes Full-Krugman, Jacks Up Borrowing And Spending, Confirms Gold Sale

In his youth, Morneau completed graduate studies at the London School of Economics and INSEAD in France, where, as Talleyrand would have said: “He learned nothing and forgot nothing.” The result, as might be expected, was a Canadian budget that was pure Keynes/ Krugman, with a bit of Larry Summers thrown in.

Sanders Supporters Just Filed A Lawsuit Against Bill Clinton For Election Fraud

from True Activist:

Supporters of Bernie Sanders in Massachusetts have officially filed a lawsuit against Bill Clinton for engaging in illegal activities on the day of the Massachusetts primary to help his wife win the state.
A group called MA Sanders Voters and Volunteers Disenfranchised by Bill Clinton filed the lawsuit after gathering evidence against the former president to use in their case, alleging that he illegally campaigned at polling stations, sometimes even going inside.
The MA Secretary of State Galvin was seen posing with Clinton and chatting with him at one event and defended him by saying his presence was totally legal because he wasn’t saying “vote for Hillary” or anything of the sort.

Job Cuts Pile up

from Wolf Street:

And it’s reaching far beyond energy.

Turning points in the vast US labor market rarely come with a big drumroll that no one can miss. Instead, they wedge themselves into the rosy scenario bit by bit, here and there, posing contradictions where none are expected. And today, we got one of those contradictions: unemployment claims v. job-cut announcements.
The number of people who applied for unemployment insurance during the week of March 20 to 26 rose by 11,000 to 276,000, the Labor Departmentreported today. While up, these initial claims are still near the low of 253,000 established on March 5, which had been the lowest level since the late 1960s!

State Department Suspends Probe Of "Top Secret" Clinton Emails

While the media goes into a frenzy every time someone is punched or maced at a Trump rally, or frankly any time Trump says anything out of place (and lately he has has had more than his fair share of supply), what according to many is the real scandal, is quietly being doused with the media obligingly looking the other way. Moments ago, AP reported that the State Department has suspended its internal review into whether former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or her top aides mishandled emails containing information now deemed "top secret."

Documented Link Between Turkey And ISIS

from The Sleuth Journal:

Previous articles discussed Erdogan’s support for ISIS, giving its fighters safe haven on Turkish territory, allowing them free cross-border passage into Syria and return, providing them arms and other material support, selling their stolen oil.
An RT International documentary film crew discovered damning evidence found by Kurdish YPG fighters in northern Syria of Turkey’s involvement with ISIS in transporting, refining and selling stolen Syrian oil – Erdogan and other regime officials profiting hugely, separate evidence revealing it.
Turkey claiming it’s combating ISIS, not supporting it, is contradicted by hard evidence proving otherwise.

Top 20 Modern Doublespeak Terms To Be Aware Of

from Zen Gardner:

Doublespeak
is a language that is alive and well in our world today. Doublespeak can refer to terms that are euphemisms (mild expressions designed to hide harsher or more direct ones), deliberately ambiguous (expressions designed to hide the truth) or actualinversions (outright lies which state the opposite of the truth). Although he never used the term doublespeak in his book 1984, many associate doublespeak with George Orwell. After all, it was Orwell who famously wrote that the motto of the totalitarian ruling party in 1984 was “War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength” – an example of an inversion. Orwell did however use the term newspeak to refer to a new kind of language which drastically reduced the scope of available words and terms, so as to concurrently reduce the scope of possible free thought among the ruled population.

Exposed - How Two Janet Yellen Phone Calls Saved The World

Thanks to the just released February diary of Fed chief Yellen, we now know exactly when she called Bank of England Governor (and former Goldman Sachs employee) Marc Carney and ECB President (and former Goldman Sachs employee) Mario Draghi. Can you guess when?

Just A Warning From Ron Paul

Trump's 1990 Playboy Interview: "We Are Being Laughed At Around The World..."

While The Donald may come across as 'shooting from the hip', it appears based on this 1990 interview with Playboy that Trump has been thinking about the decline of America, the weakness and corruption of government, and the impact of foreign (Chinese, Mexican, and Japanese) trade practices on the average joe. As he says, "I don’t want to be President. I’m one hundred percent sure. I’d change my mind only if I saw this country continue to go down the tubes."

Q1 Slams Hedgies 'Most Popular Trade' - Momo Crashes Most Since 2009

In mid-February, we warned of the looming carnage for equity market-neutral funds, and sure enough, as Bloomberg reports, one of the most popular (and successful) hedge fund trades - playing the difference between high- and low-momentum stocks - crashed by the most since 2009 in Q1. After 6 years of almost unstoppable gains, equity market-neutral funds suffered their biggest losses since 2012 - comparable to the 2007 quant crisis devastation - as weak momo stocks massively outpeformed crushing the hedgies' models.

The Next Big Problem: "Stagflation Is Starting To Show Across The Economy"

"I think stagflation is starting to show - that idea of stronger nominal growth but weaker real growth is starting to show up across the economy. It certainly is showing up with real personal consumption slowing; it's showing with slower job creation growth as the wage rate rises, and it's showing up in weaker profits as the share of labor income rises reducing profit margins for corporations."

Doug Casey Warns "We're Exiting The Eye Of The Giant Financial Hurricane"

As this unfolds, your biggest risk isn’t the crashing stock market or the crashing bond market. Your biggest problem, and also the one most people just don’t see, is political. Your government is by far the most serious threat to your money and wellbeing.

Putin Aide Details Russia’s Game Plan Against the Empire

by Harley Schlanger, SGT Report:
Sergey Glazyev is an economist, and a political activist in Russia. He is an adviser to Russian President Putin, and an early proponent of Russia’s engagement in the “Eurasian perspective,” of collaboration with China and the creation of the BRICS.
He is also known in Russian academic circles as an admirer of Lyndon LaRouche, who emphasizes that economics is not subordinate to monetary policy, but must be based on physical principles, with a focus on physical production and productivity advance, through scientific and technological innovation. Like LaRouche, he is a fierce opponent especially of British imperial geopolitics. As you will see from this interview, Glazyev shares LaRouche’s view that Obama’s war drive — from his support for terrorism to his build-up of NATO on Russia’s borders, from his “modernization” of nuclear weapons to his threats against China — comes from the accelerating collapse of the Trans-Atlantic economic and financial system.

Authorities Plan Strategic Attack of Anti-Vaccine “Myths”

from The Daily Bell:
One promising new approach is to keep track of the vaccine myths circulating in cyberspace and rebut each one as it appears. This requires tracking information from search engines and following anti-vaccination websites and parents’ forums. – Economist

The battle against anti-vaccine websites and individuals is about to intensify.
Rather than fighting on just a PR front, authorities are now planning a strategic offensive against anti-vaccine “myths” as they appear. The idea is to combat these supposed myths one by one in a concerted fashion.

Doug Casey on Making the Most of Your Personal Freedom and Financial Opportunity Around the World

by Doug Casey, International Man:
Right now, we are exiting the eye of the giant financial hurricane that we entered in 2007, and we’re going into its trailing edge.
It’s going to be much more severe, different, and longer lasting than what we saw in 2008 and 2009.
In a desperate attempt to stave off a day of financial reckoning during the 2008 financial crisis, global central banks began printing trillions of new currency units. The printing continues to this day.
It’s not just the Federal Reserve that’s printing. The Fed is just the leader of the pack. The U.S., Japan, Europe, China… all major central banks… are participating in the biggest increase in global monetary units in history.

Russia Becomes World’s Largest Gold Buyer

by Cecilia Jamasmie, Mining:
Russia’s central bank is now the world’s top gold buyer after adding 356,000 ounces of the precious metals to its reserves in February, data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) quoted by local paper Vedomosti (in Russian) shows.
According to the report, the country — which has been hoarding bullion as of late — increased its foreign reserves last week by another $5.8 billion to $387 billion. Russia’s international reserves include securities, foreign exchange cash, IMF special drawing rights, monetary gold, and a number of other assets.

by Justin Spittler, Casey Research:
If you use the Internet, your bank account is at risk…
On Monday, “terrorists” attacked a major U.S. hospital.
They didn’t set off a bomb or fire a single bullet. They infected the hospital with a computer virus.
The Chicago Tribune reported on Tuesday.
Modern medicine in the Washington area reverted to 1960s-era paper systems when one of the largest hospital chains was crippled by a virus that shuttered its computers for patients and medical staff.
[T]he paralyzing attack on MedStar Health Inc., which forced records systems offline, prevented patients from booking appointments, and left staff unable to check email messages or even look up phone numbers.
MedStar operates 10 hospitals around Maryland and Washington D.C. It serves more than 4 million patients a year. Its computer systems are still down.
