The indicator, often used to signal trend changes (down in this case) has yet to be witnessed in the S&P 500 though, but has been a useful signal at major market turning points in the past (e.g. late 60’s, early 70’s, the dot.com crash and recently the GFC). However, while breadth in this 'market' remains weak by any measure, we note that a stunning 50% of the S&P 500 components are now in the 'death zone'.

Thus, every major influential piece of mainstream media news currently being put forth is reasonably suspected of being part of this cooperative psyop. The average yield on the 10 year was over 7% between the years starting

has lowered interest rates and made our massive federal debt easier to

annual deficits will rise north of $1 trillion within 10 years, which at
that time will equal 4% of GDP. This annual increase of $1 trillion
dollars will rapidly pile on top of the already dangerous and
unprecedented level of publicly traded debt of $13 trillion.CBO further projects real GDP will grow by about 3% in 2015 and 2016; and by nearly 2½% throughout the next decade. This rosy scenario does not allow for any economic contraction whatsoever during the next 10 years, though we are already very far along on this current business cycle. China’s auto market, which had been the single most important element in the convoluted growth story of GM and other global automakers, was getting battered even before the yuan devaluation. But now elements coagulate into a toxic mix. Sales of passenger vehicles in July dropped 6.6% from a year ago, to 1.27 million, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, a 17-month low, after they’d already fallen 3.4% in June, and after they’d relentlessly trended down since late last year.
This debacle happened even though automakers had cut prices and heaped incentives on the market to stem the decline. GM and VW started it, and it has now turned into a price war.
GM’s sales through its joint ventures fell 4% in July year-over-year, to 229,175 vehicles. Despite falling sales and ballooning price cuts, GM remains, at least in its press release, optimistic about sales and profit margins in China, its second largest market, and simply blamed “model changeovers and the phasing out of older Chevrolet vehicles.” So no biggie.
