The Cyber Wars Begin: Obama Says US "Must Retaliate" Against China For Historic Data Breach

The US has determined that the Chinese cyber attack on the databases of the Office of Personnel Management "was so vast in scope and ambition that the usual practices for dealing with traditional espionage cases [does] not apply," The New York Times reports. In short: "this agression will not stand, man."

Donald Trump’s Top 20 Spot On Insults

Police Demand Compliance or Death

by Philippe Gastonne, The Daily Bell:
Today’s excerpt is by Orin Kerr, a George Washington University law professor. The Sandra Bland arrest video he discusses will – or at least should – outrage anyone who respects justice and decency. The way the officer repeatedly screams, “I’m giving you a lawful order” suggests he defines “lawful” as “subservient to me.”
Still, Professor Kerr brings up a troubling quandary. It simply isn’t possible in most situations for a citizen to know whether a police order really is lawful. As a practical matter, our only choice is to either 1) comply without question or 2) face arrest and hope a judge will show mercy.
This dilemma is inconsistent with the supposedly “free” society the United States claims to be. Police have an open opportunity to abuse their authority, and many do. That they would especially abuse those they perceive as less worthy of respect is also no surprise. That is what bullies do. They learn on playgrounds in early childhood that the best way to hide their own fear is to oppress weaker children.

This Coal Mine Valued At $630 Million In 2011 Just Sold For One Dollar

To get a sense of the complete devastation in the world of commodities, consider the curious case of Australia's Isaac Plans coking coal mine, which was valued at $630 million in 2011. It sold on Thursday for $1.  it gets worse: based on data from Citi Research, 90% of all M&A that miners did since 2007 has been written off. The commodity bubble has officially burst - feel free to thank China.

Gold And The Grave Dancers

Back in the 1960s, Alan Greenspan wrote a well-known essay that to this day is an essential read for anyone who wants to understand the present-day monetary and economic system (which is a kind of “fascism lite” type of statism, masquerading as capitalism) and especially the almost visceral hate etatistes harbor toward gold. Greenspan’s essay is entitled “Gold and Economic Freedom”, and as the title already suggests, the two are intimately connected.

Did We Just Hit The Threshold For Short Covering In Gold?

Two weeks ago we noted something that has never happened before in gold - hedge funds, according to CFTC, had a net short position for the first in history. The past week saw a very surprising negligible shift of just 11 contracts as the short position shrank to 11,334 contracts. However, the aggregate net long position has dropped to a level that in the past has represented a threshold for signficant short-covering (21% and 17% rallies respectively). So with hedgies as short as they have ever been in history and aggregate positioning at a historically crucial level, one wonders if gold is due for a bounce...

The Great Greek Fudge

A third Greek bailout involving loans from the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the eurozone’s bailout scheme, is now being negotiated. The start was quite rocky, with haggling over the precise location in Athens where negotiations need to take place and Greek officials once again withholding information to creditors. Therefore, few still believe that it will be possible to conclude a deal in time for Greece to repay 3.2 billion euro to the ECB on 20 August. Several national Parliaments in the Eurozone would need to approve a final deal, which would necessitate calling their members back from recess around two  weeks before the 20th, so it’s weird that French EU Commissioner Pierre Moscovici still seems so confident that the deadline can be met.

"Asia Crisis, Tech Bubble Burst, Lehman"... And Today

Note that the classic sign of crisis and capital flight, higher interest rates, falling currency, and falling bank stocks are now visible in Brazil (and elsewhere). Indeed, the correlation between Brazilian bond yields and Brazilian financials/BRL turned sharply negative during each of the past 3 systemic crises (Asia ‘98, Tech ‘02 & Lehman ’08) and is doing so again today.

The Latest Government Trust Fund To Go Bankrupt

Earlier this week I told you about Social Security’s Disability Insurance Trust Fund (DI), which will become insolvent in a matter of months.  The DI problem (just like the rest of Social Security) has been a long time coming.  But rather than form some meaningful solution, Congress has instead opted to commit financial fraud by commingling DI monies together with the other Social Security funds. Now comes the Highway Trust Fund. The difference between DI and the Highway Trust fund is that this one won’t be insolvent in a matter of years or months. Their own data shows that it may very well be toast… today.

Chinese Company Replaces Humans With Robots, Production Skyrockets, Mistakes Disappear

"The robots have produced almost three times as many pieces as were produced before. According to the People's Daily, production per person has increased from 8,000 pieces to 21,000 pieces. That's a 162.5% increase."

America’s New World Disorder

by Erik Rush, Freedom Outpost:

Two weeks ago in this space, I posed the question of why some think Hillary Clinton is unelectable as president due to crimes committed while serving as secretary of state, when the same pro-left media spin machine and gutless Republican leaders are on the scene now as in 2008, when Barack Hussein Obama was elected.
Over the last six years, the comportment of GOP leaders in particular, given the unprecedented threat represented by this administration, speaks to a dramatic alteration in course and intention on their part, not unlike that which occurs when the ship captain’s cabin door bursts open and the roaring mutineers pile in.

The Silver Manipulation Con Continues at the Highest Levels of Government

by Bix Weir, Road To Roota:
The US Mint is not a very good liar.
They are manipulating their sales data to stifle silver investor sentiment.
My fight with the US Mint goes back 7 years. I wrote them in June 2008 to point out that stopping production of the US Silver Eagles was AGAINST THE LAW because the law required them to produce SAE’s “in quantities sufficient to meet public demand.” Since that time, and through my continual pestering over the years, they CHANGED THE LAW to make the US Treasury Secretary the one who decides if the coins are being produced to meet demand and only he has the power to stop or limit production.
I posted this report on the whole mess a few years back.
SPECIAL REPORT: US Silver Eagle Conspiracy
http://www.roadtoroota.com/public/1484.cfm
So after all the exposure of the US Mint “managing the silver market” you would think they would try to stop the games they play but that is not the case as this is what happened on Friday…

Is Jade Helm More About War or Martial Law? A Statistical Analysis

by Dave Hodges, The Common Sense Show:
The purpose of this article is to take existing on-the-ground-evidence and see what consistent theme emanates from this evidence. The United States military is following two parallel paths, the establishment of martial law preparations and following a path of extreme combat readiness. What is not quite as clear with regard to combat readiness, is the readiness about civil war preparations, a coming world war, or both? Before I present today’s information related to these topics, I would first like to digress in the following section of this paper in order to demonstrate, in a general fashion, how I form conclusions and what motivates me to investigate certain issues over others. Finally, the question will be answered as whether we are more in war mode or martial law mode with regard to Jade Helm.

High Bypass Turbofan Jet Engines, Geoengineering & The Contrail Lie

from Dane Wigington:

The greatest lie ever perpetrated and propagated is the lie of the “persistent condensation trail”. Without knowing any of the related science facts on this issue, anyone with a sense of reason should be able to determine the fact that our skies are being sprayed. Trails that are turned on and off, grid patterns one day and nothing the next (in spite of identical atmospheric conditions). Witnessing one jet leaving a trail from horizon to horizon adjacent to another jet at a similar altitude that leaves virtually nothing.
Trails of completely dissimilar compositions and colors. Plumes behind jets that do not match the alignment of the engines themselves causing some of the trails to shoot out to one side of the aircraft. There is also of course the fact that climate science circles and governments around the globe are clamoring for climate engineering to be deployed, though none in these communities of tyrants and cowards will yet admit to the truth. Our society has been well trained to accept the official narrative on countless issues which is how those in power hide their crimes in plain site. The fact that so many official explanations are completely contrary to reason and the laws of physics seems not to matter to most of the population, “ignorance is bliss” as the saying goes.

Ron Paul: US Military-Industrial Complex Needs Russia As An Enemy

from The News Doctors:
Speaking at the 2015 convention for the Young Americans for Liberty, former presidential candidate Ron Paul leveled an attack against the US military-industrial complex. America always needs an enemy, and right now, it’s trying to force Russia into that role.
“The people have to have the propaganda convert them into someone they hate, so they can hate,” former Texas congressman Ron Paul said on Friday, during the 2015 YAL National Convention in Washington, DC.
“…so you had to have a Saddam Hussein, an Ayatollah, or somebody else, and right now it’s Russia.“

You’ll Want to Own This When Gold Prices Rebound

from Outsider Club:
Opening a gold mine is a costly endeavor. Simply finding a deposit, exploring potential reserves, navigating governmental bureaucracy and environmental red tape, and building the necessary facilities can have a project bogged down before it even gets to the point of extraction.
But what if I told you there was a mine already built, permitted, and operational… That early indications suggested as much as 800,000 ounces of gold were present… And that the only thing left to do was to get to work?
That’s exactly the position in which Pershing Gold Corp. finds itself. The company is literally sitting on a gold mine, poised to take the final leap into full-fledged production in a matter of months.

Confidence Game

from Armstrong Economics:
Hello Mr. Armstrong,
Humans often decide based on faith rather than thought if they have to choose one. Your ECM cycle is amazing, because it visualizes the change in confidence which influences so many decisions in the world!
Is it possible to reach human minds trough logic at all?
How can we communicate important concepts like your studies to others in the best way?
Sincerely,
P
REPLY: The vast majority wants to believe in some definitive higher power, like the conspiracy issue. People just cannot grasp that perhaps no one is really in charge orchestrating everything, and we are at the mercy of the whims of finance.

North Carolina pushing bill to eliminate free speech, prohibit sharing of nutritional information for sick children

by Anna McPhee, Natural News:
The same folks in North Carolina that tried to sue blogger Steve Cooksey simply for sharing information online about how to treat diabetes naturally are now going after all speech related to health and nutrition.
The North Carolina Board of Dietetics/Nutrition (NCBDN) has launched an all-out assault against free speech with its antithetically named “Modernize Dietetics/Nutrition Practice Act,” or House Bill 796, which would make it a crime to share health advice or food strategies with non-family members who are suffering from health conditions.
