Did The Clinton Foundation Give $2 Million To Bill's "Energizer" Mistress?

At Bill Clinton's behest, a $2 million commitment for Energy Pioneer Solutions was placed on the agenda during a September 2010 conference of the Clinton Global Initiative. As it turns out, the commitment is a bit of an issue...

Why Were Texas Game Wardens Just Issued Nuclear Radiation Detectors?

Incompetence Personified: Illinois Has Devolved To One-Off Funding Bills As It Still Can't Pass A Budget

As Illinois struggles to get its fiscal house in order (good luck with that), it has devolved into funding key programs with one-off stopgap measures rather than approving an overall comprehensive budget. The state remains the only remaining state without a 2016 plan.

Chomsky: Europe Bows To Its "Washington Masters" On Everything From Snowden To Iran

“There are, I think, by now four Latin American countries that offer asylum to Snowden - not one European country. In fact, they won’t even let him cross their borders. Why? Because the master in Washington tells them, ‘we don’t want him to.’ And Snowden, it’s important to recall, performed an enormous service, a patriotic service in fact, to the people of the United States and the world.

Minimum-Wage Blowback - Wendy's To Employ Self-Service Kiosks At 6,000 Locations

“This is the problem with Bernie Sanders, and Hillary Clinton, and progressives who push very hard to raise the minimum wage,” says Carl's Jr CEO Puzder. “Does it really help if Sally makes $3 more an hour if Suzie has no job?”

China Warns US: "Don't Disturb" Hong Kong Social Order; Threatens "Bad Reaction"

"We also remind the United States that certain people on the U.S. side have always wanted to disturb Hong Kong, disturb its socio-economic development, disturb the normal order of its residents' lives, and even use the Hong Kong issue to interfere in China's internal affairs... This can only be futile. The only effect it will have is to cause Chin

The Real Oil Limits Story - What Other Researchers Missed

For a long time, a common assumption has been that the world will eventually “run out” of oil and other non-renewable resources. Instead, we seem to be running into surpluses and low prices. What is going on that was missed by M. King Hubbert, Harold Hotelling, and by the popular understanding of supply and demand?

Ralph Nader: Clinton Is Winning By "Dictatorship"

With Trump now practically assured of the republican candidacy and the only remaining race being that between Hillary and Bernie, Ralph Nader, a former presidential candidate himself, had some disturbing if accurate words about the democratic primary process. In a story published in US News, Nader said that Hillary Clinton is "going to win by dictatorship" in the Democratic race against Bernie Sanders adding that "Twenty-five percent of superdelegates are cronies, mostly. They weren't elected."

"Making The Chicken Run" To Escape The Looming Greater Depression

What we’re looking at is going to be much more serious than any past crisis, partly because America has already evaporated, like the morning haze on a hot summer's day. You're not in Kansas anymore. Kansas isn't in Kansas anymore.

The Propaganda War Against Capitalism

It must be admitted that the worst excesses in this propaganda are not committed by professors of economics but by the teachers of the other social sciences, by journalists, writers and sometimes even by ministers. But the source from which all the slogans of this hectic fanaticism spring is the teachings handed down by the “institutionalist” school of economic policies. All these dogmas and fallacies can be ultimately traced back to allegedly economic doctrines.

California Tax Revenues Miss Projections By $1 Billion As Residents Flee The State

California's tax revenues came in $869 million less than forecast for the first four months of the year. Governor brown is now expected to cut some of the proposed spending increases in education, healthcare and infrastructure as a result of the miss. Many things were blamed for the shortfall, from slower than expected wage growth (there's a fix for that!), to lower capital gains taxes from a struggling market. While those were surely a factor, perhaps the biggest reason is the one that was also unmentioned: residents are fleeing the state in droves.

"Sick Joke" JC Penney Still On Bankruptcy Path

J.C. Penney sales have fallen by 36% since 2007. They have lost billions over this time frame. They have four times as much debt as they do equity. They have $2.5 billion of current liabilities and only $400 million of cash to pay off those liabilities. But, the bozo management thinks going into the low margin appliance business is going to save this sinking ship. Sorry bozo. You are going bankrupt. It’s just a matter of time.

Hedge Fund Billionaire Spends $13 Million Supporing Ted Cruz, Then Immediately Flips To Hillary Clinton

Simons, a string theory expert and former cold war codebreaker, has made an estimated $15.5bn from Renaissance Technologies the mathematics-driven “quant” hedge fund he set up 34 years ago. The fund, which is run from the tiny Long Island village of Setauket where Simons owns a huge beachfront compound, has donated $13m to Cruz’s failed campaign. With Cruz out of the race, Renaissance has switched donations to Hillary Clinton, with more than $2m donated so far.

S&P Hits Unch For The Year Again... Now What?

Heretical Thoughts And Doing The Unthinkable

According to the “social contract theory,” we all have our roles and responsibilities. As citizens, we have a duty to inform ourselves, pay our taxes, rat out our neighbors, vote, volunteer for military service, get frisked by the TSA... and let ourselves get robbed and bullied by every jackass in a position of power. Our leaders have responsibilities, too. They are supposed to respect the constitution, except when it is inconvenient for them. Our “leaders” – aka the Deep State – can change the terms any time they want. What kind of contract is it where one party can change the deal and the other can’t? And where the other party was never given the opportunity to negotiate it, or even approve it? It’s not a contract at all. It’s just part of the mythology of modern democracy.

David Stockman Warns "Get Out Of The Casino!"

Forget the "wall of worry," former Reagan OMB Director David Stockman warns a shocked CNBC anchorette that "the frogs are in the boiling water again on Wall Street...and they don't have enough sense to get out." The last 600 days of range-bound trading marks the top he explains adding that "we have reached the cyclical top in both GDP and earnings," which leaves a market trading at extremely expensive levels - "why would you stay in?" Stockman believes that the world economy is heading into a "deep and lasting deflationary recession." There is no evidence that America is immune, he adds, warning of the potential for 40% downside and just 2% upside in stocks...

Another US-Sponsored Coup? Brazil's New President Was An Embassy Informant For US Intelligence

As much as we would like to believe that Michael Temer is simply the real world version of Frank Underwood, there is a much simpler explanation for the 75-year-old's dramatic ascent to the peak of Brazil's power elite. As it turns out, the Temer presidency may be nothing more than the latest manifestation of the US state department's implementation of yet another puppet government. We know this because earlier today, Wikileaks released evidence via a declassified cable that Brazil's new interim president was an embassy informant for US intelligence and military.

Genscape: "Inventories At Cushing Are Close To Maximum Operating Capacity"

Inventories at Cushing are close to maximum operating capacity, and on May 3, 2016 reached utilization just shy of 80 percent, a record high since Genscape began monitoring the hub in 2009. Genscape has never observed capacity utilization higher than 80 percent based on historical data, though utilization may breach 80 percent depending on the utilization of merchant capacity, or capacity that is leased by an owner to other users.

Satyajit Das Is "Astonished Investors Haven't Raised Pitchforks At Policy-Makers"

"They’re going to have to stop people from taking out cash... I would argue that it’s not going to be able to be dealt with, and it creates enormous social and political pressures… What we’re going to see is a period of financial repression, which is very, very dangerous... I honestly don’t know how it’s going to end. In the 1920s and 1930 when similar pressures built up, it didn’t actually have a very good ending."

Is A "Lehman-Style Shock" Coming: Abe Announces Sales Tax Delay

Over the past few months Abe insisted that he would not delay the consumption tax increase for a second time, explaining repeatedly that the increase would go ahead "unless a global economic contraction or a Lehman-style market shock jolted Japan's economy." Inquiring minds want to know if a Lehman-style economic contraction is about to hit Japan because moments ago Nikkei just reported what many had expected for months, to wit: "Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has decided to postpone a consumption tax increase set for next April, judging it to threaten efforts to pull the world's third-largest economy out of deflation."

US Rig Count Continues To Crash

The total US rig count declined yet again this week, down 9 to 406 - a new record low. The last four times rig counts collapsed anything like this, the US economy was in recession. Oil rigs dropped 10 to a new cycle low at 308, but appear near a turning point if lagged oil prices remain any indication...

Drug Prices Soar Most In The 21st Century

While the 1998 Viagra "spike" came and went, in recent years, pharmaceutical preparation, i.e., drug prices have been soaring higher with every passing year, and according to today's PPI report, at the wholesale level, drug prices in April surged by 9.6% over the past year, the biggest increase since 1982 when excluding the Viagra outlier, and certainly the most in the 21st century.

US Is Not Wanted In Iraq – ISIS to the Rescue With Gladio Style Explosions Everywhere

by Bernie Suarez, Activist Post:

It is now no secret. The world, especially the Middle East, is fed up with US-NATO support of terrorism and unlimited war in their region. The missing “weapons of mass destruction” that were never found by the Bush-Cheney cartel is now an ugly unavoidable and irreversible scar on the reputation of America. A country now permanently branded in the consciousness of the world as a threat to all nation states. The world realizes that America is hijacked by criminals who speak with a forked tongue. They wear business attire, they sound smart, and they meet all the time in government buildings to declare their official positions, draft new laws, approve new measures and make new declarations. They (the US government and its NATO political conspirator allies) operate at a very sophisticated level in an era of high technology and they employ an unimaginably complex and sophisticated propaganda system by way of mass media that has allowed them to accomplish all the crimes they’ve committed… and get away with it!
Their now clearly visible plans to keep the Middle East destabilized (PNAC plans) and the crucial role played by their “Islamic State” proxy army or ISIS is undeniable. It is apparent that their intent is to continue attacking nations that decide it’s time for the US to leave. This is exactly the situation in Iraq where the people have been clear with their message to the US – “Withdraw or be dealt with.” They want the US out of their country and to never come back. It’s like a landlord trying to evict a bad tenant who is making life difficult for the other tenants.

Canada Attacks Anti-Vacciners, But Campaign Is Too Little, Too Late

from The Daily Bell:
Ontario parents who object to vaccines could be forced to take a class in science of immunization … Parents in Ontario seeking a non-medical exemption to public-school immunization laws will soon have to take a course in the subject first. – National Post
Anti-vaccine sentiments seem to be increasing. And such sentiments provide a textbook example of The Daily Bell’s arguments regarding the impact of the Internet on society, especially Western culture.
We have always argued that when people had access to credible information on any one of a number of subjects, they would begin to act on it.

Court Says Administration Violated Constitution in Funding Obamacare Subsidies

by Terence P. Jeffrey, CNS News:
Judge Rosemary Collyer of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued an opinion today declaring that the Obama administration violated the Constitution by funding Obamacare subsidies for which Congress did not appropriate funds.
“Congress passes all federal laws in this country,” the judge wrote in her opinion in the case of U.S. House of Representatives v. Burwell.
“The Court will enter judgment in favor of the House of Representatives and enjoin the use of unappropriated monies to fund reimbursements due to insurers under Section 1402,” the judge said.
