"The Situation In Iraq Has Become Very Dangerous"- Iraq PM Orders Arrests As Green Zone Protest Disbands

The situation in Iraq has become very dangerous,” said Wathiq al-Hashimi, a Baghdad-based political analyst said cited by Bloomberg. “No one will be able to control thousands of angry protesters while the rest of residents in Baghdad are in panic and living in real fear.”

"Only The Dumb Save" - ECB Pens Incoherent Response To Germany's Criticisms

It appears as though the ECB has had enough of the thorn in its side that is Germany in this latest round of back and forth, and has taken to what it does best: jawboning. In an article published today in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper, executive board member Benoit Coeure writes a rambling article defending ECB's policies, tells Germany that the ECB is the reason for its economic success, and downplays the issues that any savers may be having under NIRP.

Is This The Ultimate Act Of A Frantic Establishment Willing To Do Anything To Stop Trump?

As Donald Trump inches closer to the Republican nomination, GOP insiders scramble to put a halt to the billionaire’s run for the White House. A new lawsuit filed in the state of California could prove to be the ultimate act of desperation by a frantic establishment willing to go to any lengths to end Trump’s bid for the Oval Office. However, if the allegations contained within the court documents are found to be true, they would not only spell the end of Trump’s presidential a

Consensus Forming: China Heading Back Into Financial Crisis

China’s historic post-2009 debt binge flew largely under the radar - fooling most observers into thinking the global economy was recovering rather than just re-leveraging. Now Beijing is back at it, borrowing over $1 trillion in this year’s first quarter, buying up commodities and creating the illusion of global growth. But this time the scam hasn’t gone unnoticed. Reporters, editors and money managers seem, at last, to be catching on. So think of today’s relative calm as the eye of yet another storm, and what’s coming as a return to the hyper-leveraged new normal.

Germany's Third Largest Party Adopts Anti-Islam Manifesto: Says "Muslims Are Not Welcome In Germany"

One week after Austria was shocked by the news that its right-wing, anti-immigrant Freedom Party, had swept the competition, gathering over 35% of the vote and leaving the other five candidates far behind, Europe's anti-immigrant juggernaut just added to its momentum when neighboring Germany's populist AfD party adopted an anti-Islam policy on Sunday in a manifesto that also demands curbs to immigration according to AFP. The biggest surprise however, is that the three year-old party is now also Germany's third strongest party.

10 Stats About The Last 10 Years

Think back over the last 10 years - how different was your life in April 2006?  While you may think your daily existence is largely the same (maybe the kids are older or you’re married now, but that about it…), consider what was actually different about your life in the spring of 2006:No iPhone; No Facebook (unless you were in college at the time); No Twitter; No Instagram; No Kim Kardashian; No Uber; No iPad.

"If This Goes Well, I'll Use It At Goldman Sachs Next Year" - Obama Mocks Everyone At His Final "Nerd Prom"

In his final address to the White House correspondents dinner also known as "nerd prom", Obama embraced his last chance at a snarky, hyperbolic, comic monologue and used the stage to unleash a series of one-liners at 2016 presidential candidates in both parties, the media and his own career as president.

US-Created System In Iraq Is Collapsing: Protesters Storm Parliament, State of Emergency Declared - Live Webcast

Less than two years ago, the US set up another puppet government in the mid-east this time in the state of Iraq when following substantial US pressure, on August 14, 2014 then prime minister al-Maliki agreed to stepped down and be replaced with Haider al-Abadi. Today, the regime is in chaos and the system set up in Iraq by the US is collapsing when protesters loyal to popular Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr breached the heavily fortified Green Zone, home to government buildings and foreign embassies, and stormed the Iraqi parliament forcing MPs to flee and unleashing a state of emergency for all of Baghdad.

State-Sanctioned Theft - The Failed War On Drugs And Cops' Abuse Of Civil Forfeiture

The ugly unspoken truth is that the War on Drugs is a massive jobs and funding program for law enforcement that is operated under the guise of saving people from the evils of substance abuse. More than 40 years after it was started, we know that it has been a colossally-expensive epic failure on its stated goals, was intentionally designed to further disenfranchise marginalized groups, and has become a full-fledged assault on our civil liberties.

Where Are the Other 10 Million Panama Papers?

from Washington’s Blog:

When I posted my scepticism that we would be given the full truth about the content of the Panama Papers by the mainstream media outlets who were controlling them, it went viral and became the first individual article to be read by half a million people on this blog alone, and a multiple of that as it was posted all round the web, translated into several languages.
I also attracted some derision from establishment propagandists. I had contented that the fact the papers themselves were not made available, but we were rather fed selected information by the western and corporate state media, would limit and slant what the public was told. The initial concentration on Russia, Iran, Syria etc seemed to confirm this. But it was urged that more was to come, and I should wait, and it was suggested I would look foolish when they finished publishing. “Wait and see” tweeted the editor of the lead newspaper, the Suddeutsche Zeitung, in response to my post.

OBAMA ANNOUNCES PLAN TO “EXPEDITE” SMART GUN TECHNOLOGY

from The Daily Sheeple:

America is by far, the most difficult country to push any kind of gun control legislation. The gun grabbers really have their work cut out for them here. In just about any other nation, all it takes is one tragic mass shooting, and the sheep start bleating and begging for more restrictive laws. But for a variety of reasons, it just doesn’t work here. Guns have just become far too ingrained our culture for most people to give them up.
It’s actually quite impressive when you think about it. Every other line and amendment in the US Constitution has been violated into meaninglessness. Though the spirit of the Second Amendment has been violated as well, it hasn’t been done to the same extent. It’s the last domino that just won’t fall, no matter how hard the gun grabbers blow.

Erdogan Wants Everyone Criticizing Him Prosecuted

from The Sleuth Journal:

In Turkey, dissent is a criminal offense. Anyone criticizing Erdogan or exposing regime wrongdoing risks arrest, prosecution and imprisonment on charges ranging from insulting the president to espionage, treason or terrorism.
Journalists, academics, public figures, human rights activists, even young children are vulnerable. So would world leaders be if Erdogan has his way.
Last December, regime loyalist Mahir Akkar urged Putin be criminally investigated on charges of insulting and defaming Erdogan.

Central Banks Are Trapped, Junior Mining Weekly Recap

by Gerardo Del Real, Outsider Club:

Central Banks are trapped and the scenario I’ve been waiting years to see play out is now materializing.
The speculator and investor in me is excited because the volatility that’s approaching will provide some incredible opportunities to make a lot of money.
The human in me cringes because the volatility that we will experience globally will have real-world consequences for many, many people. Consequences that will include defaults, bankruptcies, recessions, and if history is any guide…. war.

Don’t Ask for Freedom – Live It!

from Zen Gardner:

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” – Albert Camus
That quote pretty much sums it up, at least on one level. What’s fundamentally dystopic is that humanity petitions others for their freedom, as if it’s something to be granted by someone else in a position of authority over them. Not only is that counter intuitive at a very deep level, but it reinforces the very paradigm from which they are trying to escape.
It’s very much like putting the cart before the horse – and then the horse complains about it and asks those who did it to change the situation.

Why this Economy Feels Even Lousier than the Lousy GDP Print

from Wolf Street:
But the numbers are hushed up.
The meme that 14 million jobs have been created since the Great Recession is constantly held up as proof that the labor market has healed, or has practically healed, even if there are a few soft spots left over – such as the pandemic lousiness of the jobs that have been created.
In official circles, the sound of folks patting themselves on the back is deafening. But for many working-age Americans, who have to compete with each other in the labor market, reality is tough.

Innocent Couple Would be In Jail Had they Not Secretly Recorded this Corrupt Cop Extorting Them

by Matt Agorist, Activist Post:
An innocent couple exonerated themselves after secretly recording a Clayton County cop trying to shake them down.
Earlier this year, Mike and Michelle Pierce, who run a thrift and salvage business in Griffin, decided to buy a car from an auction; a decision that would later haunt them. It turned out that the car was stolen.
The Pierces had no clue the car they just purchased was stolen, but as soon as they found out it was, they called 9-1-1 and handed the car over. However, after they turned the car over, police gave it back and then arrested them for having it.
“They arrested us in our store in the middle of the day,” said Michael Pierce.
