"This Is Not The America My Parents Immigrated To In 1957"

"'Hoffnung', the German word for ‘hope’, is my dad’s favorite word because it has carried him through many tribulations. Hope sustained him when the Nazis ripped him from his home. Hope lifted his spirits as a prisoner of war. Hope kept him alive when the Russians released him to the British, and he worked in a coal mine under terrible conditions near Scotland for a few years to pay off his “debt”. Hope is what brought him and his family to America for a better life. I just wonder if he would have left Austria if he knew that 57 years later his very own son would have no hope whatsoever for the America he was about to call home. So sorry, that’s just the way I feel right now, and for the past six months or so. Hoffnung ist tot."

Cash-Strapped ISIS Is Selling Sex Slaves On Facebook: Asking Price $8,000 Each

"To all the bros thinking about buying a slave, this one is $8,000,” begins the May 20 Facebook posting by Almani. The same man posted a second image a few hours later, this one a pale young face with weepy red eyes. "Another sabiyah [slave], also about $8,000,” the posting reads. "Yay, or nay?"

Another Real Estate Crash Looms: Sam Zell Dumps Holdings, Warns "The Fed's Deferred Reality For Too Long"

Everything seems to be booming again – easy money, easy lending, rising prices, and a bread and circused populous. But appearances can be deceiving and highly acclaimed billionaire investor Sam Zell isn’t buying the hype... noting the nearly 50 million Americans on food stamps, the six million millennials living in their parents’ basements, or the massive spike in business debt delinquencies.

The Global Bear Market In Freedom

Americans will be celebrating Memorial Day this weekend, to honor those who fought and died for the values they have traditionally cherished the most as a nation: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The world has changed dramatically in recent decades. The geopolitical situation is much more complex, with rising powers challenging America's supremacy. The intractable war on terror seems interminable. Old foes appear to spring back to life even more powerful than before. And things at home look dicey in terms of politics and economics. As we reflect upon the ultimate sacrifice that others have made‎, it is an opportune moment to consider a very important question: is the US winning the fight for freedom?

Libertarian Party Chairman Candidate Strips To His Underwear On Stage

While badly needing an alternative to the fake left-right divison plaguing US society, American will not get a much needed, credible libertarian "third choice" for yet one another year. Here's why.

China Sends Yellen Another Warning, Fixes Yuan At Lowest In Over Five years

We had expected sailing would not be smooth for the FX market, when on Friday afternoon, after Yellen's' unexpectedly hawkish comments at Harvard, which sent the USD surging, we predicted a stormy sea for the Monday Yuan fix.  That is precisely what happened when moments ago the PBOC set the official exchange rate of the onshore Yuan lower by nearly 0.5%, from 6.5490 to 6.5794, the lowest fixing in more than 5 years, or February 2011.

CEO Of Asia's Largest Commodity Trader Unexpectedly Resigns

We have tracked the problems of recently junked Noble Group - Asia's largest commodity trader - extensively over the past year. Then, moments ago things finally turned serious for the company, announced moments ago on the Singapore stock exchange, not only is CEO Alireza resigning, to be replaced by William Randall and Jeff Frase as co-CEOs, but the company will also begin the sale process of its Noble Americas Energy Solutions, one of its star assets, in a deal that will generate "significant cash proceeds", which is the best confirmation just how desperate for cash the company truly is.

ECB Policy-Failure On Display: European Businesses Aren't Planning To Invest

As if further evidence were needed of monetary-policy failure - with the central banks' textbook mechanisms to stimulate the economy impotent in a debt-saturated world - we turn to a recent survey done by Intrum Justitia AB, which looked at whether or not negative interest rates were changing encouraging the minds of Europe's companies on investment decisions (CapEx) - the answer is a resounding no.

Paul Craig Roberts: Killary Will Be The Last US President

It is entirely possible that the world is being led to destruction by nothing more than the greed of the US military-security complex. Delighted that the reckless Obama regime has resurrected the Cold War, thus providing a more convincing “enemy” than the hoax terrorist one, the “Russian threat” has been restored to its 20th century role of providing a justification for bleeding the American taxpayer, social services, and the US economy dry in behalf of profits for armament manufacturers. Previous US presidents worked to defuse tensions. The Obama regime has inflated tensions with lies and reckless provocations, which makes it far more likely that the new Cold War will turn hot. If Killary gains the White House, the world is unlikely to survive her first term.

UK To Stockpile Tanks, Heavy Equipment Close To Russia's Border

As if on cue, NATO made it even more explicit that its primary prerogative remains to provoke Russia into an offensive move, when over the weekend the Times reported that the British military may soon start stockpiling tanks and other heavy equipment in Eastern Europe as part of NATO's military beef up close to Russia's border. The decision may come at the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw in July.

The Source of Failure: We Optimize What We Measure

The problems we face cannot be fixed with policy tweaks and minor reforms. Yet policy tweaks and minor reforms are all we can manage when the pie is shrinking and every vested interest is fighting to maintain their share of the pie. Our failure stems from a much deeper problem: we optimize what we measure. If we measure the wrong things, and focus on measuring process rather than outcome, we end up with precisely what we have now: a set of perverse incentives that encourage self-destructive behaviors and policies.

Information Warfare is not “Optional”

by Ulson Gunnar, Activist Post:
Nations without information warfare capabilities in the 21st century are like nations without armies and navies in the 20th century. They are defenseless.
Imagine a nation without an army, a navy or an air force. What would its prospects be of defending itself against even moderate aggression? What if it had an army, even a formidable one, but was missing an air force and/or navy? Would its chances be any better?
Before the invention of human flight, war was fought in two dimensions by armies and navies upon the surface of the planet. With the introduction of aircraft to warfare, a new dimension was added. Nations that fell behind the curve building and rebuilding their air forces would find themselves consistently at a disadvantage. Those nations that stayed ahead of the curve would cite air power as key to their victories throughout recent history.

Utility Smart Meters – A Probable Terrorist Connection Unveiled?

by Catherine Frompovich, Activist Post:
All throughout the USA—plus globally—informed and concerned citizens are refusing AMI smart meters for electric, natural gas, and municipal water utility services, which are provided using a Marxist-draconian-like edict and rollout by utility companies that want to cash in on the funding they can receive from the feds to institute what amounts to an apparent ‘first leg’ push for the global smart grid and Internet of Things (IoT) [1].
The IoT is designed to track everyone’s every interaction at all times—in your car (transponders and E-Z Pass); on your computers—specifically Windows 10 backdoors that apparently allow the feds access to your computer; through your ‘smart’ home appliances—especially TVs [2]; plus a human RFID microchip [3] surgically imbedded somewhere inside your body to enforce a cashless society, tracking, and an obvious ultimate control mechanism over every human! That IoT sure beats what Karl Marx, Adolph Hitler, and Joseph Stalin visualized and enforced! Why aren’t consumers waking up to what’s being done to us?

EU Becomes Increasingly Orwellian in Preparation for Possible Brexit

from The Daily Bell:
A European army is exactly what the EU and UK needs Whether or not Donald Trump wins the US presidency, American sentiment is for the Europeans to do much more to help themselves … Under Nato Euope’s defences remain incomplete and necessitate US involvement – UK Independent
George Orwell’s 1984 is coming to pass.
It is not enough that the US has faux face-offs with Russia and China. Now Europe will build an army too.
And thus there will be three or four different major powers in the world.
Perhaps once Europe has an army, it will have a rapprochement with Russia and then Orwell’s prophecies will be mimicked almost exactly.

Silencing America as It Prepares for War

by John Pilger, Counter Punch:
Returning to the United States in an election year, I am struck by the silence. I have covered four presidential campaigns, starting with 1968; I was with Robert Kennedy when he was shot and I saw his assassin, preparing to kill him. It was a baptism in the American way, along with the salivating violence of the Chicago police at the Democratic Party’s rigged convention. The great counter revolution had begun.
The first to be assassinated that year, Martin Luther King, had dared link the suffering of African-Americans and the people of Vietnam. When Janis Joplin sang, “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose”, she spoke perhaps unconsciously for millions of America’s victims in faraway places.

Europe May Soon be Swept by a New Wave of Migrants

by Martin Berger, New Eastern Outlook:
These days, as Europe is engaged in a behind the scenes fight with Turkey to put an end to the flow of migrants along the “Turkish route”, European officials prefer to keep silent about yet another impressive wave of migrants coming to the EU from Africa.
For sure, this decision can be partially explained by the fact that the migrants entering Europe via the Turkish Route are mostly refugees from Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Over decades, migrants from these countries have been forming large ethnic groups in Central and Northern Europe and that is the reason why today’s refugees are trying to reach those areas. It should be noted that over 900,000 migrant have taken the “eastern route” between Turkey and Greece back in 2015, and most of them sought refuge in Germany, the UK, and Nordic states. Germany alone may spend over 93 billion euros to accommodate all those people by 2020, says Der Spiegel while making a special reference to the German Ministry of Finance. In order to understand how grave the situation is, one may note that this sum is two times larger that the budget of Greece.

Former IMF Head and Bond King Both Recommend Gold Over Stocks and Bonds

from Hang The Bankers:
Kenneth Rogoff, former chief economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kenneth Rogoff, recently penned a piece in which he recommended that emerging markets diversify their foreign exchange holdings away from the bonds of developed countries and into gold.
One of Rogoff’s main reasons for the argument is that with interest rates at or below zero, there is little value to be gained in buying such assets.
As for gold, he puts it simply:
“…gold is an extremely low-risk asset with average real returns comparable to very short-term debt. And, because gold is a highly liquid asset – a key criterion for a reserve asset – central banks can afford to look past its short-term volatility to longer-run average returns.”

When Socialism Takes Hold, Hospitals Collapse into Ruin… Disturbing Photos from Venezuela Show the Human Cost of Bad Government

by J. D. Heyes, Natural News:
Sen. Bernie Sanders, the first openly socialist U.S. presidential candidate, won’t become the Democratic Party’s nominee, no matter how much his supporters kick and scream about the unfair advantages awarded his chief rival for the Oval Office, Hillary Clinton.
But sometimes dreams don’t come true, and for a reason: Some entity somewhere is trying to spare Sanders supporters (and the rest of the American public) the pain and agony and despair that socialism would bring to the United States.
That entity is even providing a modern-day example, if anyone at Sanders’ rallies cares to take an honest look: Venezuela, a once-successful capitalistic country that has descended into an economic death spiral, thanks to more than a decade of bad, socialist government.

Obama Violates Nuclear Treaties while Iran Upholds Them

by Robert Barsocchini, Washingtons Blog:
The IAEA issued a new report reconfirming that Iran is “complying with the P5+1 nuclear deal, and that Iran’s stockpiles have all remained below the limits set forth in the deal.”
The ‘deal’ has been selectively imposed, mainly by the US, as a propaganda and war-weapon against Iran, which the US has sought to reconquer since its proxy dictator was overthrown in 1979. While forcing Iran to comply with the strict regime, Washington ignores nuclear violations and ambitions by its allies or proxies, such as Israel and Saudi Arabia.
The US itself remains the world’s leading violator of nuclear weapons law and the only country that has used nuclear weapons on people, including in human experimentation.
