Legendary Pierre Lassonde: A Spectacular Turn In The Gold Market Is Coming – China And India Will Be The Key

from Kingworldnews:
We are in the dog days of summer, but I believe prices are more likely to be higher in September than what we are seeing today. However, if the U.S. dollar is going to stay on a tear, it will be very difficult for the gold market to work its way higher.
It’s all about the dollar right now. The U.S. is the only economy in the world that’s growing and everybody is fearing the collapse of their currencies, so they are all moving into the dollar. As long as the dollar is ‘king,’ gold is going to struggle.

"Far Worse Than 1986": The Oil Downturn Has No Parallel In Recorded History, Morgan Stanley Says

The forward curve currently points towards a recovery in prices that is far worse than in 1986. As there was no sharp downturn in the ~15 years before that, the current downturn could be the worst of the last 45+ years. If this were to be the case, there would be nothing in our experience that would be a guide to the next phases of this cycle, especially over the relatively near term. In fact, there may be nothing in analysable history.

Seattle’s Nanny State is “Deputizing Trashmen as Secret Police” to Snoop Through Wastebins

by Mac Slavo, SHTFPlan:
Once society has set its course for total control, there is no bounds it will not cross in order to achieve it.
Obviously, governments have been willing to violate rights and unleash technology to spy upon the entire population.
But did you know they were also willing to dig through your trash and messy waste to uncover offenses, impose penalties and control social behavior?
This is exactly what’s going on in Seattle, where the city is now using trash collectors to snoop in trash cans to catch residents and businesses who are in non-compliance with new requirements to compost materials that break down. Wow! Talk about sinking to new lows.

Obama's Minimum Wage Utopia Just Hit A Brick Wall

Who could have possibly seen this coming? Almost three years we first detailed how America has become an entitlement nation where "work is punished." It appears President Obama is about to discover this first hand as his populist 'raise the minimum wage' strategy is showing yet another major unintended consequence. On the same day as New York acts to mandate a $15 minimum wage for fast food workers, Seattle's $15 minimum wage law - which is supposed to lift workers out of poverty and off public assistance - has hit a snag. As Fox News reports, evidence is surfacing that some workers are asking their bosses for fewer hours as their wages rise – in a bid to keep overall income down so they don’t lose public subsidies for things like food, child care and rent. So not only is work 'punished' it is now 'disinentivized by mandate' as part-time America toils amid ever-rising costs of living.

A Middle-East Game Of Thrones

As President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran is compared to Richard Nixon’s opening to China, Bibi Netanyahu must know how Chiang Kai-shek felt as he watched his old friend Nixon toasting Mao in Peking. The Iran nuclear deal is not on the same geostrategic level. Yet both moves, seen as betrayals by old U.S. allies, were born of a cold assessment in Washington of a need to shift policy to reflect new threats and new opportunities. Several events contributed to the U.S. move toward Tehran.

First China Arrests "Sellers", Now Bans "Defaulters" From Traveling

In consequence-less America, the stigma of defaulting on one's personal responsibilities is a badge of honor for a risk-seeking public. No matter what, the government has your back if you want to buy a fridge, boat, or car - serial defaulter or not. However, hot on the heels of their proclamation that "malicious selling" of stocks is illegal, the Chinese government has extended its punitive measures against defaulting citizens, who are now banned from traveling on high-speed trains.

"Mr. Martin-Artajo is in Spain, where a court has refused to extradite him, and Mr. Grout is in France, which typically does not extradite its own citizens. Peter Schiff: Currencies Depend On Faith, Gold Doesn't

"My faith is that governments and central banks will continue to run up debt and debase currencies until a crisis brings the whole experiment to a disastrous conclusion. There is simply no historical precedent to reach any other conclusion. I also have faith that human beings will always prefer a piece of gold to a stack of paper. Separate a paper currency from its perceived value and you just have a stack of paper and ink. However, if they would just print it on softer and absorbent stock and put it on rolls, it might have some intrinsic value if we run out of toilet paper."

'Trump'ing Political Success Through An Irate Silent Majority

Richard Nixon made hay of the term “Silent majority” back in November 1969 to defend his Vietnam War policy.  It has since been used by American politicians to legitimize and expand the nature of a non-descript huge following they claim as their own, quite often asserting the existence of magnified populism and an implied democracy.  Nixon’s baton seems to have been now passed to Donald Trump, as he submits his candidacy for the highest political office in the land, and grabs the microphone to broadcast his unfiltered stand on immigration.  A message that questionably-qualified experts in the media are quick to devour, then defecate, on a public more receptive to shallow issues dealing with celebrities than anything of social significance or depth.

7th Dead Doctor: Found Among Five Slain in California Read more at: http://tr.im/zLcWX

by Heather Callaghan, Activist Post:
Perhaps you’ve heard about a tragic rash of dead or missing doctors in one month’s time? Seven have either died under strange circumstances or were victims of brutal murders. There are also five who have simply vanished along with one medical lawyer. Although we make no assertions, thirteen medical workers involved in high profile cases in thirty days, needs documentation. Additionally, most of these cases are simply unsolved.
The previous dead or murdered doctors are as follows: Autism researcher Dr. Jeff Bradstreet, Dr. Bruce Hedendal DC PhD, Dr. Teresa A. Sievers, Lisa Riley DO (Doctor of Osteopathic), young Dr. Baron Holt, and Dr. Ronald Schwartz. Five took place in Florida. Dr. Fitzpatrick MD and Dr. Jeffrey R. Whiteside simply vanished. Three doctors and one hospital lawyer vanished in Mexico – law enforcement there allegedly attempted to pass off other dead bodies for the missing people in order to close the case.
No sooner had I posted information about a sixth doctor found dead in one month’s time, when someone sent me an Associated Press report about five female victims of a tragic massacre in Modesto, California. Two adult women and three girls ages six and under were found dead on Saturday. The youngest was six months old.

Kiwi Pops After RBNZ Cuts Rates, Citing Commodity Price Pressures

While we know now that Greece is irrelevant, and China is irrelevant (fdrom what we are told by talking heads), it appears the commodity carnage of the last few months is relevant for at least one nation. Having already warned about Australia, it appears New Zealand has got nervous:
*NEW ZEALAND CUTS KEY INTEREST RATE TO 3.00% FROM 3.25%, FURTHER EASING LIKELY AT SOME POINT
The Central bank blames softening economic outlook driven by commodity price pressures. Kiwi interestingly popped on the news to 0.66 before fading back a little, despite RBNZ noting a further NZD drop is necessary.

How to Know Which Mushrooms Are Safe to Eat and Which Are Toxic

by Robert Harrington, Natural Society:
Everyone knows that there is a big difference between edible mushrooms and the poisonous kind. Toxic mushrooms are certainly out there in the fields, but they have been identified over the years so that there is little chance of them being harvested by trained and experienced pickers. There are certainly ways anyone can tell which mushrooms are poisonous and which are safe to eat – read on to find out how.
“Fewer than 1% of the estimated 10,000 mushroom species in North America are poisonous, according to the North American Mycological Association.” [1]
This factoid has led various researchers to the conclusion that there is something about the management of edible mushrooms which has caused so many cases of illness. Since mushrooms are a fungi, they have their own unique mycotoxins which will proliferate due to unsafe collection and storage.

Currencies Depend on Faith, Gold Doesn’t

by Peter Schiff, EuroPacific Capital:
In his July 17th Blog, Let’s Get Real About Gold, author and Wall Street Journal columnist Jason Zweig likened investor interest in gold with the “Pet Rock” craze of the 1970’s, when consumers became convinced that a rock in a box would provide continuous companionship, elevate their social standing, and give them something hip to talk about at parties. Zweig asserts that investor faith in gold, which he argues is just another inert mineral with good marketing, is similarly irrational, and has kept people from putting money in the much more lucrative stock market.
First off, Zweig’s comparison of gold to equities as an investment vehicle sets up a false dichotomy. Gold is not an investment. It is, as Zweig indicates, nothing but a rock. But it is a rock that is extremely scarce, with highly desirable physical properties that have resulted in its being used as money for all of recorded human history. As a result, it should not be compared to stocks or real estate, but to other forms of money, such as any one of a number of fiat currencies now in circulation. Ironically, in a world awash in fiat currencies that are created at an ever increasing pace, and whose value is solely derived from faith in the issuing state, gold is the only form of money whose value does not require a leap of faith.

The Same Old Scam

Gee, where have we seen this before?
“It’s very, very frustrating from the perspective that you don’t know how much more they know that they’re not telling you” – Standard & Poor’s Shannan Murphy about Millennium Health.
Millennium Health – biggest drug-testing lab in the US and biggest recipient of Medicare drug-testing payments, which account for one-third of its revenues – is Exhibit A of how a credit bubble allows companies and banks to put yield-desperate investors, blinded by a zero-interest-rate policy, through the wringer.

The American Nightmare: The Tyranny of the Criminal Justice System

by John Whitehead, Rutherford:

Justice in America is not all it’s cracked up to be.
Just ask Jeffrey Deskovic, who spent 16 years in prison for a rape and murder he did not commit. Despite the fact that Deskovic’s DNA did not match what was found at the murder scene, he was singled out by police as a suspect because he wept at the victim’s funeral (he was 16 years old at the time), then badgered over the course of two months into confessing his guilt. He was eventually paid $6.5 million in reparation.
James Bain spent 35 years in prison for the kidnapping and rape of a 9-year-old boy, but he too was innocent of the crime. Despite the fact that the prosecutor’s case was flimsy—it hinged on the similarity of Bain’s first name to the rapist’s, Bain’s ownership of a red motorcycle, and a misidentification of Bain in a lineup by a hysterical 9-year-old boy—Bain was sentenced to life in prison. He was finally freed after DNA testing proved his innocence, and was paid $1.7 million.

Seattle Trying to Ban Land Ownership in Name of Equality

from Off Grid Survival:
I’ve written about it many times in the past. The once great dream of owning your own little slice of land, living your life without having to worry about paying rent or relying on the government is gone. The American Dream is literally turning into an American Nightmare, as tyrannical politicians seek to limit your rights to own land.
Seattle, Washington may be one of the first major cities in the United States to outlaw land ownership for families.
According to a draft letter obtained by the Seattle Times, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray’s advisory committee on housing is currently drafting a set of rules that will ban single-family zoning in Seattle. Part of the draft reads: “We can still be a city for everyone, but only if we give up our outdated ideal of every family living in their own home on a 5,000 square foot lot.”

Gold & Silver Money Has Devolved Into Debt and Plastic

from Gold Silver Worlds:
Central banks will disagree; Keynesian economists probably disagree; Too-Big-To-Fail banks don’t care;
But I think the following is generally accurate regarding the devolution of gold and silver money.
IN THE BEGINNING: Gold and silver coins were used as real money for several thousand years. Gold and silver were universally recognized as a store of value.
140 YEARS AGO: The $20 Gold Double Eagle Coin was globally recognized as money. It contained 0.9675 ounces of gold and its purchasing power was unquestioned

The Decline and Fall of the West | Dr. Jim Penman and Stefan Molyneux

from Stefan Molyneux:

Falsifying History In Behalf Of Agendas

from Paul Craig Roberts:
In an article on April 13 ( click here ) I used the so-called Civil War and the myths with which court historians have encumbered that war to show how history is falsified in order to serve agendas. I pointed out that it was a war of secession, not a civil war as the South was not fighting the North for control of the government in Washington. As for the matter of slavery, all of Lincoln’s statements prove that he was neither for the blacks nor against slavery. Yet he has been turned into a civil rights hero, and a war of northern aggression, whose purpose Lincoln stated over and over was “to preserve the union” (the empire), has been converted into a war to free the slaves.
As for the Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln said it was “a practical war measure” that would help in defeating the South and would convince Europe, which was considering recognizing the Confederacy, that Washington was motivated by “something more than ambition.” The proclamation only freed slaves in the Confederacy, not in the Union. As Lincoln’s Secretary of State put it: “we emancipated slaves where we cannot reach them and hold them in bondage where we can set them free.”

The World is a Mess: A Quick Primer for Beginner Preppers

from Ready Nutrition:
For seven years, my family and I have been preparing ourselves for a long-term economic depression to occur. I have watched events occur that affected our food supply and our transportation. I have seen diseases and illness that were considered eradicated in this country make a come back and threaten our wellbeing. I held my breath hoping this wouldn’t be the triggering event that would cause our great country to go under and used those catastrophes to see holes in my preps and filled them the best I could. I knew the only control I had was to prepare for them; so I kept my head down and pressed on. I am writing this today because I feel that we are quickly approaching a time when action must be taken. Sadly, a vast majority of the population refuses to see the economic storm approaching and many will be ill-equipped to survive such an ordeal.
